Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov. 26th, 2020 09:08 amI have not had a peopled Thanksgiving in many many years so today, being forced to be by myself, represents really no difference. I haven't even watched the Macy's parade on TV in a whole lotta years so that's not a change either. Also, I'm not into football so not having games is something I wouldn't even notice if it weren't for Twitter. So all is fine here without even any change.
Last year I did make a change when I found that Metropolitan Market sold Thanksgiving for Two. (All the other places that sold premade dinners were for 4 and up.) I bought one and it was heaven. For days and days.
That was the beginning of what I hope will be a tradition for years to come.

I forgot to put the gynormous containers of gravy and cranberry sauce (the way I like it - mostly jelly and not fancy) in the picture. I know from last year that each of these are delicious. I think what I will do today is slice up the turkey and then make up a plate and reheat it in the microwave. This is opposed to what they suggest which is to heat up everything in the oven and then dish it out. My Thanksgiving/My Way.
The leftovers - many delicious options for days.
Last night, my ceiling fan light kept toggling on and off exactly every 3 minutes. I unplugged the hub so it was no longer connected to the internet and still - every 3 minutes. Finally I went to the remote and changed the batteries and the 3 minute flicker stopped.
I spent some time researching ceiling fan replacements. I've never loved mine particularly anyway. Time to upgrade to one that has wifi built in. But, it did not take long to figure out from the offerings and the reviews that what I have is every bit as good as what is out there now. We appear to be at least a few years yet from good. Also I was amused to see that many manufacturers are selling fans as 'wifi connected' that are really old fans that come with the same Bond hub that I already have.
But, Jeff Bezos has decided that my time in luddite hell should come to an end. This morning I plugged the hub back in and everything now seems to be working as before. Better actually since in all the configuring and reconfiguring, I made some changes that have it now working better.
Oh! check it out! Winter has brought Biggie a girlfriend!

So that's why he's spending so much time out on his perch.

I do not miss the leaves on The Tree That I Hate.
Biggie's new litter box has cut down considerably on the mess of litter everywhere. Thank you, Chewy. Because it was relatively cheap and I didn't want to pay extra, I ordered litter and food and treats to make up the $50 needed for free shipping. I am now set for months on all three. And appear to be borderline hoarding.
So. Today I am thankful for having more than enough. For having Biggie be healthy. For having a calm and peaceful mind. And for no longer having to use the wall switch. Whew!

Date: 2020-11-26 06:31 pm (UTC)The problem had nothing to do with connecting to my wireless, it was connecting to the Wyze cloud which was on AWS which was having problems.
And Wyze didn't know or didn't want to pass it on.

Date: 2020-11-27 10:26 am (UTC)I also enjoy your posts. I like the domestic nature of them, the crafting (im sat amoungst a pile of incomplete xmas crochet projects), life as a cat guardian and the little differences between US and UK life.
Also love the little curiosities, which i could ask about but i prefer to see if more is shared randomly, such as what your job was, where else you have lived, family anecdotes etc.
Dont know if you can access it but there is a delightful bbc program called "the repair shop". Its very English and charming and its good to see a programme where men can 'safely' be emotional. I think it may appeal.
Oh just one question ..have you every visited England and if so what stayed in your memory about it. Im curious how you see us.
