Getting those little jelly jars out of that very cute but frustrating Advent House proved more than I could handle. I finally got out a butter knife and freed every last one of them.

BUT there are rules. I am not allowed to dig through and look at the labels. I have to close my eyes and pick one. I'm not a total heathen.

In other news...

Biggie has a queue appointment at 2:30. This vet has never had appointments. Pre-covid, it was just bring 'em in - first come, first served. This was not always great but it was never horrible. But now, you have to call and get a queue time. It's basically an appointment. They have 3 locations. I'm kind of mad at my usual one. I called another one this morning and waited on hold forever and then she said 3:30. That location is dicey as it gets to rush hour so I asked if the other locations might have an earlier time. She said the downtown might. So I called them.

I'm so glad. There was no telephone tree. A real person answered and had Biggie's record in front of her based on my telephone number before I could even tell her. She asked good questions and offered me anything after 2:30. So now we're set and I feel way better.

Biggie stuck to me like glue last night except for the times he got up to throw up. He did poop and pee this morning which is good and now I have a sample for the vet. If you didn't know him, you would not really even notice he's lethargic. He's already tried to spill my coffee twice. He is sticking close by.

I am relieved to be taking him in and more than a little stressed at going out into public. But, I gotta figure a vets office has to be one of the safest kinds of places.

------------

I need a new yarn project. The one that I got from Lebanon turned out to be an ok pattern but the yarn just sucks. It's horrible to work with. I think it's time to move on. The book I'm reading - I'm 8 hours in with 2.5 to go - is no longer interesting. I don't care what happens to any of the characters. I think it's time to move on.

I've clearly got completion/follow-through issues and I don't care.

My memory foam pillow, I think, has Alzheimers. Amazon is bringing me a new one. It's Out For Delivery.

And that's really it.

Biggie's doing his usual surveillance of the outside but today he's WFH.

Hope he is OK. Could there have been mould or chemicals on the old sticky he found?

You missed the best opportunity for comedy in a while.

"I've clearly got completion/follow-through issues and"

I can't tell which book you're on. But I just did the same with Then She Vanished. DNF. The book was about half a dozen themes and one of them would have resulted in about a thousand more FBI agents crawling all over and the protagonist being shut down immediately. So several of the threads made no sense to continue. So I didn't.

Sorry about Biggie. Finger's crossed. Glad you found someone to help.

I'm so glad you've got an appointment for Biggie!

Our vets are doing "curbside only," and with our current one we have to place our vehicles (wherein we remain) in a numbered parking spot, call the desk and say hello, we're here, in numbered spot Number Whatever. And we, the pet parents, can't go in with our fur-babies, and we STILL have to be masked. I'm not disagreeing or complaining, please understand: it's just good, solid, common sense as far as I'm concerned and I won't trust any medical facility of any nature which isn't super-careful about contagion and sanitation.

If they don't suggest it, may I suggest to you that you request a urinalysis on Biggie? It can be is very informative, more so even than blood chemistry or standard hematology work-ups. It'll cost, of course, but a), it's worth it in my never humble opinion, and b) from what you've been describing it's warranted. And c), although it costs, it doesn't cost so much as to be prohibitive.

Keeping positive thoughts and sending healing energies for Biggie and for you.

Hope all goes well at the vets. I wonder if you will need to pass him over and then wait in your car? Vets in Ontario that for quite a while. Now one person is allowed to wait inside, but no-one is allowed to accompany their pet to the actual exam.
