He hopped out of the carrier as soon as I got it partially unzipped and he has not stopped moving since. He has investigated every single thing. I should have, as [livejournal.com profile] howeird suggested, just removed the cat door. He's out there crawling all over the cat tree which he should not really be doing. He seems pretty steady on his feet and it feels mean to shut it down.

No running, jumping, climbing for 10-14 days. Well, so far there has been no running.

Ok, he came in and I took took the cat door down and closed the slider. At least for today.

I swapped out that hard plastic cone first thing and at least I feel more comfortable. I think he does, too. I have pills and a liquid for pain. He has external and internal stitches. I have the option of taking him back there to get the stitches removed (paid for) or taking him to my vet. No need to decide today.

He's finally, just now, slowing down... home 2.5 hours. Woops no, there he goes again. Making his rounds. He does not seem too pissed about the door closed. But he does keep going back to check for updates.

They did shave off a bigger area this time but the incision seems smaller.

He can't seem to get enough head scratching/nuggies which he normally is only moderately even ok with. I do wish he'd settle down and take a nap. But mainly I'm just glad to have him here.

$5,135 + $350 for regular vet visit + whatever for getting the stitches out.

As the surgeon said "It looks like he tried hard not to do it twice in one year. He should get some credit for that." Yes, indeed.

Should have gotten a zipper installed. Sigh. He's got to burn off all that rest he had.

Goodness, Biggie. I am so glad to read that he is home and he is as much himself as one might expect given the past couple of days. He looks quite well so there's hope in that. I can only imagine how itchy and annoying that big shaved area will be - as well as that incision! It's a good thing he has the best owner who made him such a delightful not-cone deterring collar. Here's to smooth sailing with the healing and for the love of all that is holy to cats no more pica big guy!

I am so glad to hear that Biggie is back home and recovering well.

But, that vet bill: Ouch!!!

There is just something about that unconditional love and devotion that makes us do everything we can to care and provide for them.

Yay! Glad he's home and feeling reasonably perky. Very cool recuperation collar you concocted, too. Here hoping his healing is swift and as uneventful as possible.

You should have asked the vet how to stop a cat from running, jumping, or climbing.

I'm glad Biggie's back!

As I was saying I’m convinced he has pica. But where is he finding all this stuff to swallow. I know you don’t leave a whole lot out for him to get at. Best leave the miniature house in the closet forever!
