And so starts Christmas 2020 but, for me, no diff than the Christmases that went before it. Quiet day, here by myself, doing what I do most every other day. My choice. Well, one minor difference... usually, I'm annoyed because everything closes down but this year, it truly makes zero difference.

I went out yesterday - to Amazon and then to the restaurant. It was so weird to be out. And a little frustrating. I drove by Walgreens and would have loved to have gone in and just shopped around and probably bought sale candy and maybe one or two things that I really do not need.

Then I drove by Grocery Outlet - and this one hurt. Grocery Outlet is just what it sounds like mostly. Except for produce and dairy, it's a store of stuff that is not sellable at regular grocery stores. Products that may have had a label change. Products that are at end of life. Test products. But... food. It's very weird and wonderful. You can find fabulous deals. Also one of a kind treasures. There used to be a Grocery Outlet less than a mile from here and I was in there at least once a week. They closed down in February of 2019 (non pandemic related) and I miss them so much. I was so so so so tempted to go in there last night but, I do not need anything and could not justify the risk. So I drove on by.

So unlike past years, it really does not matter what or when opens or not. I'll be right here at home.

My next outing will be stitches related. I'll call the vet on Saturday and see when I can take Biggie in and get these damn things out. I need this collar off. He's got no sense of balance with it and he's driving me nuts climbing all over everywhere.

So this year Christmas represents 2 more sleeps til Freedom!!!

Except, I just realized that the vet will be closed on Thursday and Friday and so slammed all weekend. Oh well. We'll make it. Biggie has his morning birds to distract him today.

I might do a hair cut this morning. The last one was such a success but it was also very short. The problem with very short is that the damn stuff grows so you need to keep redoing it and every redo is a chance for disaster. Oh well. I have a wig and hats.

Also today needs to be laundry day. I think I need a bigger dirty clothes hamper. Biggie will enjoy the pile of warm clean clothes. So Merry Christmas, Biggie!

Sucks to be young, huh?

I think we're in the same boat. Spring.

Yeah, it looks like [livejournal.com profile] jwg is going to get in before I can. I turn 75 in May, but I'm guessing my turn as a 74-year-old with high blood pressure will come before then.

How long ago were those stitches put in? And what sort are they, do you know?
I know there's a kind of limit on how long they can be in the skin before getting them out is...more difficult.

A neighbor's dog had much less dramatic surgery than your Biggie's, and his humans were told his "mama" could take the stitches out, rather than bringing him in to see the vet and have the vet do it. She wanted to be a cooperative pet parent, but at the last minute she lost her nerve and asked a friend to help. (Everything worked our just fine, btw.)

Our vet has sometimes just squeezed us in for something quick and easy and simple, like a weight check, without having an appointment. Would it be worth asking, d'you think?

I didn't know you had a wig and now I'm very curious. Is it a wig that looks pretty much like your hair, or something quite different?

I reckon stitch removal cannot come a moment too soon for either of you!

there's a grocery outlet that's about a ten minute walk from where I live and I buy stuff there all the time because their deals are excellent. The only negative thing about it is some of the people who work there are dumber than a box of sticks.

oh ,some of them are super nice and funny and all that good stuff too, one of them I like so much that I brought her extra baked goods when I made them.

There was a store similar to your Grocery Outlet near my friends’ house out in PA. I could get lost in there for hours.
