Lovely afternoon
Nov. 2nd, 2002 05:33 pmWhat a nice afternoon... Betty has been snuggled up next to me on the couch while I've been knitting and watching tv. Nice.
It's pretty chilly in here tonight and a fire in the fireplace would be wonderful but there's a burn ban on. No rain has left our air pretty uggy. I have to admit that I have 'forgotten' about a burn ban now and again but probably won't tonight. I have gloves, I have blankets, I'm working on an afghan which is at a good size for keeping warm while I'm working on it. Things could be worse.
I did get my computer all categorized and organzied. Before I unhook this one, I just need to run my Outlook Express backup program and transfer that over to the external drive. I'm ready.

Date: 2002-11-02 05:52 pm (UTC)It means that the clean air people working with the EPA will come arrest you (well, actually probably fine you) if you are burning a fire in your fireplace, yard, or anywhere else. The only exceptions are some woodstoves where that is the only heat available.
The reality is that that won't come get me as my chimney empties on top of the roof and they'd have to go to 108 front doors in this building to find the perp. But, it serves as a strong request to everyone to help and not have fires, please.
They issue these burn bans when the air gets crappy. Fortunately, it doesn't happen around here too often.
