Yesterday, in the snail mail, I got a package from the condo home owner association. It was the announcement of the annual meeting. With instructions to register via zoom and a long convoluted zoom link. From past experience, I'm sure, in a few days or a week, the doofus that sent this, will send the link electronically. But, rather than say that on the paper, he just instructs to go to the link.

So, I took a photo of it and ran it through OCR and then still had to tweak it but I got there and registered. You can't thwart me, you doofus.

And speaking of doofuses... about two years ago, I created friendly URLs for the front door and the lobby Nest cams. The building manager (not the same doofus as above) refused to use them and would use the ugly ass convoluted Nest URLs on the bulletin board and in the newsletter (not linked) until the board president told him to stop. In the past few weeks, he's taken to including the friendly URLs in the newsletter (linked now). Cool, right? nope. They stopped working about 6 months ago (which I told him in an email). I have now sent him 3 emails explaining that the URLs he is using no longer work. I created some bit.ly URLs and include those in the emails. Does he use them? Heck no. I give up. I sent one last email explaining it all to him again and this time copying the board member who is in charge of communications.

Our building is managed well. But, looking at how that management is accomplished makes me scratch my head at how.

Ok, I'm done bitching. I am exceedingly grateful for zoom HOA meetings. I have not been to an annual meeting in years. Now I can attend and eye roll, snark at comments, and even yell at them if I want. Luxury. Judgy McJudgship at your service!

OMG... my pastry delivery just arrived. PERFECTLY. She texted me that she was 7 mins out. I threw on my clothes and went down to the lobby and she had just pulled up. I came back up here and made another cup of coffee, took some pix and now I am indulging as I write.

The dets.

The QR code takes you to a web page of the ingredients. I am currently enjoying half of the sour cherry muffin. SOOOO Delicious! And I have my eye on that potato brioche with steak slices for lunch.

Care pack Jan, 30-31

Thai Tea Croissant: flour, butter, salt, sugar, yeast, milk, heavy cream, gelatin, white chocolate, condensed milk, thai tea

Sour Cherry muffin: butter, sugar, flour, buttermilk, eggs, oil, baking powder, salt, oats, sour cherries ( from Remlinger farms)

Twice Baked Croissant with almond cream, pears, and ginger: flour, yeast, milk, butter, sugar, salt, almond meal, eggs, pears, ginger, cinnamon, honey, brandy (in the pear poaching liquid)

Brioche with potatoes, rosemary, and olives: butter, flour, sugar, yeast, milk, eggs, salt, potatoes, rosemary, kalamata olives

Snicker-dude: flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, cream of tartar, butter, cardamom, cinnamon

I'm terribly afraid this is going to be a weekly habit. Which will, hilariously, entail my spending nearly exactly as much - per month - as I would have with the gym membership! That makes me LOL for reals. Delicious pastries vs. crappy pool with snotty management? There is a very easy financial decision.

I think I have all of my papers for federal tax filing with one exception and that exception will be here mid Feb. Then it's off to the CPA. My investments are what keeps me from being able to do it all myself. But, also, my investments are what enables me to pay the CPA so fair's fair.

Flonase continues to work on my running nose. I'm actually amazed. It's lovely not blowing my nose all damn day. And, weirdly, it's giving me better sleep. For the past few years, sleeping on my back was not possible because breathing through my nose wasn't possible my mouth would get so dry that it would wake me up. These days, back sleeping is a viable option which is really nice.

I have a few chores today. I need to take a load down to the recycling bins and do some tidying up around here. But first I need to Instagram my pastries. These people deserve all the free publicity they can get.

It's like getting a gift! The box is beautiful and the pastries are well worth the price of a gym membership.

Delicious pastries delivered delightfully to your apartment building door no less. WAY better than a snotty gym membership indeed. What an amazing service! I hope her business is suitably brisk.

I like being in Zoom meetings, but they are kind of difficult to chair. Chaos!

Aha! What I was mostly wondering about the Thai tea croissant was whether it was (strangely) a Thai form of croissant intended to be consumed with tea, or included Thai tea among its ingredients; I see it's the latter, which does make a lot more sense.

Wonderful pastries pic! Certainly a delight-filled pack.

About time to organize all the paperwork we've received and confirm whether we're ready to file, too. Sigh. For some reason, the task does not beckon intriguingly.

Now I am craving a pear poached in something with ginger. Croissant optional.
