I finally sat down with my ballot and voters guide tonight and did the deed. They kept moving my polling place around until they finally moved it where I couldn't find it at all so I signed up to always vote by mail. Very handy.

My neighbor Sherry wants to come watch me set up my new computer. She's a good egg about so many things but she's the most annoying about computer stuff. She thinks she knows it all but if you ask her what operating system she's running she'll answer Netscape. I told her that if the computer gets here in time, I'll be setting it up starting Thursday at 9 a.m. If it doesn't get here in time for that, then it will be Monday at 9 a.m. I'm hoping she'll have to work and won't be able to watch.

I'm taking Thursday and Friday off and Monday. Fun, huh?

My friend from New Zealand wrote tonight that he mailed my Christmas present. I had hoped that we could skip that this year. He's all involved with his new girlfriend and a new life and I was so hoping we could just get by with best wishes. Guess not. Now I have to find something for him - something very light weight since I've already missed the boat rate deadline. I think I've used up all my best light weight ideas. Too tired to worry about it tonight.

I don't like being watched as I set up computers or repair them. Or when I learn how to do software for that matter. Some things best done alone.

Oh how I know only too well what you mean about the what system do you run = netscape deal. Forgive them oh Lord for they know not how clueless they are.

What a great idea! And that leads me to one that I haven't used yet or in lots of years... a nice calendar of Seattle photographs. Hmmmm thanks!

I have worked my way out of most Christmas gifts. I hate shopping and especially around holidays. The whole thing is so forced.

My biggest coup was my Mom. Several years ago, at Thanksgiving, she was talking about what to get my sister's kids and the conversation got to other gifts instead and the idea just popped into my head. I suggested that we give ourselves the gifts of agreeing not to exchange gifts any more. She jumped at it the option and it's been that way ever since.

The whole gift exchange thing has really lost its meaning in the world we live in now. I like that idea above of giving pictures and such. Especially for the people that live far away from you - it would be nice to send them a little scrapbook of shots of you, your home, your city, your cats, your work, etc... That is like inviting them over. I like that idea a lot.

I'm giving my family & friends gift certificates. I am a firm believer in not hiding the idea that it is a cash deal and they will have much more joy shopping for themselves than I ever will!
