I walked to Daisio, shopped and walked back. It wasn't easy but I did it. It's something I should do every day and then it will get easier. But, I won't be doing that.

Daiso has no parking. Street parking is a crap shoot and not free. Uwajimaya is across the street. They have parking - free for 2 hours if you buy $10 worth of stuff in Uwajimaya. (This, by the way, is very difficult because they have too much wonderful stuff so only spending $10 is nearly impossible.)

By walking over, I do not have to park at Uwjimaya and buy stuff there I do not need. Victory, right? Not so fast. In between here and Daiso on foot, you have to pass a Tous les Jours bakery. One of the few in the International District that have not shuttered. I need more pastry, right? Damn right.

One time when my brother ([livejournal.com profile] bill_schubert) was here, we we were in Daiso and he bought a long (like 2 feet long) sponge that you cut to whatever size you want. I thought (and probably said) that was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. You could get twice as much sponge one hook over for the same price.

Today, that Dumbest Thing I'd Ever Seen was exactly why I went to Daiso.

It's my $1.50 fix for wicking the water leaking out of the ice machine!

The leak is small enough so that probably I'll only have to empty the sponge every week or so. Ha!!

I found the flaw in my new air fryer/toaster. It has a very low clearance. The interior box is barely tall enough to warm up a fried chicken breast. So I'll only be able to bake/cook/broil short/flat things but I think I can live with that.

I just realized that my configuration of Biggie's birthday present is a question mark. Biggie?

*high fives*

Good on ya!

Clever, your solution to the ice maker leak. Good on ya for that one, too! :^ )

Yes, the interior space is a definite shortcoming on those things.

Biggie ? Clever :)

It is not so easy to clean as I hoped it would be. In my house it will get just as gunky as a regular air fryer because I am the only one who prefers washing to sanitizing by heat. I should mention that I have read only 10% of the instruction manual so this may not be the Ninja's fault.

I don't like the vertical door handle on the left. I understand that placing it there is to limit its height when it's folded up but it's just so awkward.

Going back to not reading the instructions, I struggle with how and what to pull out when the food is done. Rack, pan, wire basket...it's annoying and I just know one of these days I am going to burn myself because a potholder is awkward and I end up using tongs to pull out the basket.

All that being said, I really do like the Ninja and if I knew then what I know now I would still buy one (or ask for one for Christmas like I did for this one.)

Or perhaps with the area of the sponge it might dry out before you need to wring it out? Possibly, maybe.

Dobby has that same toy! Isn't it great? Reminds me to pull it out of the closet-- I keep his toys on rotation, so something "new" can be pulled out occasionally without my having to buy more.
