[livejournal.com profile] bill_schubert says that everyone who hasn't gotten their stimulus check is calling him on the Turbo Tax answer team. But, here I am, his sad sister who hasn't gotten her stimulus check and he says I can't call. It's not fair! I'm thinking about calling Turbo Tax to complain about their customer service!

On the one hand, the government says it was sent to my credit union for direct deposit yesterday. My credit union says nuh uh. BUT my Citi bank savings account has a totally unexplained $1,127.58 deposit from the IRS in it. I am not due anything from the IRS AND even if I was, it would go to the BECU account. Now I have to conjure on whether I want to fight Citi Bank's customer service to get enough info to take to fight IRS customer service to explain so they can track it down. I feel badly for the person who didn't get their $1,127.58 but I'm not sure I feel badly enough to take on those battles.

That same brother who is being such a pill about my stimulus check, did a little pre-redemption this week by recommending November Road by Lou Berney and read by Johnathan McClain. The blurb was not too enticing but what the heck.

Every few whiles, I start an audiobook that is compelling from the first word. Sometimes it's the story. Sometimes it's the reader. Sometimes, it's just everything. This time it is all of the things. I have 7 hours left of this to listen to and already I miss it.

One of the characters is checked into a sketchy motel by a "sour Baptist pickle". Can't you just see that motel clerk?! The reader totally nails the words and the story and makes it all sound like music.

Today's adventure is a lunch pick up from The Milk Drunk. This is a place that took over an empty bar last year - in the middle of 2020. They originally had long lines and sold out everyday before 1. But now, things have settled down and they have online ordering and I think it's time to try them out.

Plus, they are next to a favorite small grocery. I can stop in there and pick up the very few things I need for my new Just In Time food situation. AND, best of all, I have to go right by Krispy Kreme on my way home.

By the way, it is Thursday. I just double checked.

I love finding a really excellent audiobook. I used to listen to them in the car when I was still going into the office and it made the commute SO much nicer.

I prefer to see it as equity, as many other countries don't charge to file federal taxes and I don't want to pay either!

I don't have enough complications to need a CPA. I forget some places don't have state taxes.

My husband and I missed getting a stimulus check by about $700. He was unemployed for all of 2020, but was receiving severance until May. Then he started collecting unemployment, but I got a raise at work. That pushed us $700 over the income limit. Frustrating!
