I'd gotten complacent. I hadn't even looked at local COVID numbers recently. Last night I was shocked to see Washington State highlighted on the news map of States With alarming increase in the number of new COVID cases. I dug in and, sure enough, we're headed into trouble again.

I had been so looking forward to meeting [livejournal.com profile] seattlejo for breakfast. She's been out and about and has a husband who goes into work every day but she has not been vaccinated yet (what a bitch to be so young and healthy). And if we had breakfast out and then she got sick... I could not get comfortable with the risk so I canceled. No. I postponed. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until my next birthday.

So no word about a treadmill repair person and no word from Bodycraft on the treadmill situation. I did give it a nice lube job yesterday. The mat is due to arrive today. A week or so ago, I tried walking without the treadmill - in place. And hated it. But, loved not having to put those walking shoes (sneakers/trainers) on. So I've been trying different shoes/sandales/crocs. I even tried barefoot. And the stopping started to happen. Now, what in the hell difference does wearing shoes make? Or changing shoes? NONE. The treadmill should not care. In all of the googling of broken treadmills I did yesterday, there was exactly ZERO mention of shoes. Zero. But, this morning, I put on those damn running/walking shoes and how many times did the treadmill quit? Zero. WTF? So. it's the annoying shoes for the win? Truly a puzzlement.

I'm having a bit of a debate about whether or not to go to Michaels. [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist told me they are now selling fabric but I don't need any fabric. They always have interesting yarns but I don't need any yarn and other stuff but I don't need any other stuff. But, it would be good to get out and my credit card will give me 10% cash back on Michels right now and Michaels is having a big sale... But, I don't need any more stuff. So that's the debate. I think the not going is winning. But, I won't know for sure until about 3ish. I know I won't go anywhere after 3.

I think, maybe, instead, I might just walk up to Two Doors Down and pickup a burger and milkshake for lunch. That's probably a better deal all the way around.

I've gotten such wonderful birthday questions. So much to think about. I think I'll answer one an entry, take them in order and start today.

I was just thinking this morning how I'd love to go to Dubuque and visit Hobby Lobby. But drive 45 minutes to go to a store where I don't need a thing? A burger and milkshake, on the other hand, is always a necessity.

First, I know it is tomorrow, but I'd like to wish you a very Happy Birthday!

Here is a question for you: How many of your LJ friends have you met in person, and which ones?

Just in case science learns that the vaccine is only effective for 3 months, my unsolicited vote is go. Go to Michael's. Go to restaurants. Go swimming. Treadmill at the gym and give your finicky treadmill a rest. Go everywhere!

I sound a bit manic about this, don't I? Guess what I'll be doing from early-April to early June? GOING.
[God willing and the creek don't rise...]

ETA: we are on the same page re dining with unvaccinated folks though.

Which Michael's do you go to? The one near me in Interbay is almost always vacant when I'm there. It's always me and maybe three other customers in that giant building. That and there's Plexiglas between the customers and the cashiers. When I go there I make a point of laying out all my things barcode up so that all the cashier has to do is scan them, then I can throw them in my bag and pay with my card.

Aww, sorry to hear about having to cancel your plans. Covid is such a pain. I wish people would be more precautious and take it more seriously so that we could move on. We finally are able to get 16 years and older vaccinated here as of next week. So that's good. We are slowly getting our household vaccinated.

I haven't been to a craft shop, or any shop in a year. I miss going to Michaels. Its dangerous for me to go in there. I go in wanting one thing and come out with...everything. LOL.

Happy birthday

I bet the shoes ground you enough to stop zaps from happening? That's my super scientific take on why the treadmill doesn't stop when you have shoes of any form on. It eats static electricity.

Ha, I just posted the reverse theory :-) I know that trainers build up crazy static in my office. But perhaps it is flow of static into the belt or through some path that is insulated by the sole.

Trainers might build up more static, but that would cause more issues than less I would have thought. Curious to know what the issue is.

We are headed for trouble. April 12, 2021 we expect the governor to roll back some counties from Phase 3 to Phase 2.

It will not be pretty. People are so sick and tired of it.

We don't know this is coming, we expect it. We have expected before and been surprised.

The pressure to reopen is formidable. The counties that will be impacted if he does roll back, are the most defiant and interaction is very ugly.

State workers have been personally threatened. We've all been trained in situational awareness and told repeatedly it's okay to walk away if we don't feel safe. There are some counties state workers won't go to for enforcement, because it is too dangerous.

The ignorance is real.

I have ordered online with store pick-up and also regular mail with Michaels. I haven't purchase anything that requires actual perusal though like fabric.
