I did, in fact, travel to Popeye's and The Dollar Store and neither disappointed at all. It was delicious and fun. And, unlike last time, Popeye's didn't screw up my order so there is nice, leftover chicken in the house.

And, weirdly, there was no Mariner baseball game. I turned on Netflix to find watch the next on my list and discovered it was a movie called The Dig. Ugh. This was something my brother recommended. It didn't even look remotely interesting. I clicked figuring I'd watch the first 5 mins so I could say I tried.

It was captivating from the first minute to the last.

Biggie is right here next to me snoozing away in his pod. All in all, a very excellent birthday.

I enjoyed The Dig more than I thought I would as well. It felt like just the right amount of everything kinda thing. The ensemble was great. Ralph Fiennes could read the phone book though and I'd pay the price of admission to see it.

Happy Birthday! Found your journal via a Livejournal email.

My day was mainly spent watching live podcasts, then the Sunday night NCIS "double feature" on TV with Los Angeles and New Orleans. :-)

I wasn't born yet during that particular lineup, but have seen episodes of every show on that list. I've tended to skew older "entertainment wise" than I actually am. :-)

I enjoyed The Dig, even though it underplayed the key role of the woman archaeologist, in particular. She was not some dilettante young wife, but in fact a serious archaeologist in her own right, who had led digs before Sutton Hoo.

TBH that's enough to put me off it. I don't want to spend the entire time grinding my teeth. Thanks for pointing it out.

It was still worth watching; it just didn’t play up the female characters as much as it could have. That is understandable since it was focused on the “amateur” archaeologist who got no credit for years for his discovery.
