I got into bed last night at my usual time and, per normal, fired up my silly game and my audiobook. I usually entertain myself with both for about an hour. Last night I lasted 15 minutes. And then I slept 9 hours. I was tired. And sore. Today I feel perfectly fine.

I have spent 70+ years mostly not doing anything to prolong my life. I've always hated exercise. When I was younger I took the stairs instead of elevators because I was in a hurry. I walked instead of the bus sometimes for the same reason but, I was never a runner. I didn't do yoga. I dieted to lose weight and more often than not just starved myself. I've never been a fan of vegetables. Once I got old and no longer in a hurry, I gave up the stairs and the walking and the dieting and now I am fat and out of shape and old. And, I'm honestly ok with all of that. It's a price I pay for years of neglect and it's a fair price.

Next time I go to the ballpark, I'll go on my scooter. I'll keep up the treadmill in the mornings because now it is just habit and I know it pays off and I don't love it but I don't hate it either. I'm fairly sure I could regain some physical strength and stamina and maybe even without the pain in my hips but it would take far more work than I'm interested in doing. So things are the way they are. I'm not unhappy about it. Just realistic.

The Nest Hub is going back to Google. I don't need THAT much sleep monitoring and it simply refuses to do stuff that Alexa does easily and happily. I like the Google music options better but I don't even listen to music enough to justify that. So back it goes. Like the order/shipping/delivery improvements that the Google Store has made, they have also streamlined the return options greatly. This is all very good info to have. I have avoided ordering from them in the past. Now I have a new buying option!

Other than packaging that up and leaving it downstairs for the postal carrier, I'll be doing not much at all. The baseball game is on TV at 1 which is weird because it's in Minnesota so two hours later. Weekday game that starts at 3? Whatever. I have two fun yarn projects going - one knit and one crochet. And nowhere I need to go. And a clean house. All under a very watchful eye...

Thank you so much for eliminating my need to even think about a Nest hub. Alexa does fine for us. Surprisingly inconsistent on some things but a little analog personality in the digital world is nice.

Do you mind my asking a question? You mentioned pain in your hips-- Could you describe it? When it happens, when it's better?

I ask because I'm having really nasty hip/low back pain when I'm walking, and I'm only walking about three-quarters of a mile. I don't know if this is just what being 64 is supposed to feel like, you know? I've tried physical therapy (didn't help). It could be related to one of the drugs I take for cancer, or maybe my shoes are wrong or something.

Nobody talks about their aches and pains, though, so I don't know if this is just..... normal?

Personally, I love your realistic view of and approach to life. It's very refreshing in a world full of whiners and excuse-makers. :)

Weekday game that starts at 3? Whatever.

Yesterday's Red Sox-Orioles game was at 3:00. But it was the Orioles' home opener, so maybe that had something to do with it. (The Sox' home opener was at 2:00.)
