You have such a great relationship with your brother why do you not get along with your sister?

My sister and I have never gotten along. Ever. We tried while my parents were alive but only because they wanted it so much. She is one of those people around whom the earth revolves. If it’s not about her, it just isn’t. Regardless of what ‘it’ is. She just sucks all the energy out of everything with zero reward. After my parents died, I tried, briefly and, honestly, without enthusiasm but learned that my life was ever so much better without her in it. And the years have proven me correct. She's a widow who lives not far from here (about 3 hours via car/ferry), actually, and has three grown daughters and that's about all I know and all I care to know.

I admire your attitude toward your sister. I had a very difficult sister as well. She died in 2017. Going back and reading my LJ entries about her I wonder if I couldn't have dealt with her better, maybe offered some help regarding her mental state, but being in the middle of things is different than looking back, of course.

I have spent time thinking oh if she died would I regret. Nope. She has her own life, her own people. She doesn't need me and I don't need her. I could deal with her better. I just don't wanna :)

There are just some people that we weren't meant to have any type of relationship with. There's no point in forcing it. I don't buy into that "but they're family" BS.

I don't have any siblings, but there are certain parts of my extended family that I feel this way about. Living thousands of miles away makes it pretty easy to have no contact with them. :P

I wondered if it was your sister who sent that 'what did I do wrong' email recently. I dared not bring it up then but now that 'we' are talking about her...

I imagine that you ruled her out somehow?

Man, you have a memory like a friggin steel trap! I'm going to give up Google and just do Judy from now on. (And, please don't ever be afraid to ask anything!)

But, nope, not my sister. Turns out it was a girl I knew in college and after. She kind to turned toxic and I backed out of the relationship probably 15 years ago. I did not respond this time and likely won't.
