What was your first pet? Siblings do not count. They should but they don't.

Hahahhaa. My first pet as a kid was a tired old dachshund who had been my Mom’s dog from before she was married. Gretchen. She was a sweet old thing.

My first pet as an adult was a huge mutt dog named Max. I had a fire engine red Opal GT, just like this one.



The minute I’d get out of the car, he’d move over to the driver’s seat. I’d come back to the car to find it surrounded with people laughing their heads off at this huge dog driving this fancy car. This happened often. He was a character.

Susan, tagging on to the above question ... If your first two pets were dogs, when did you become a cat person?

I moved and couldn't take Max so he went to live on my friend's parents' farm and for several years I was petless. Then I cat sat a friend's cat and enjoyed her a lot and for Christmas my friend gave me a kitten. I named her Christmas.

This is freaky! My first pet as a kid was also a tired old dachshund (long-haired), named Gretchen. My parents adopted her before I was born.

Just don't try to tell me that you are my long-lost sister!

I bought that car when I was a 'salesman' for IBM. I had three counties in western South Carolina (Greenwood was my 'big city'). I was in my 20s and cute and I got stopped probably once a week by state troopers. Driving While Cute In A Hot Car. I did not miss that when I traded the car in!

That car question is a great one and I've added it to the list. Thank you!

He had places to go, that Max! He sounds like a character. Big dogs are always so casual about the unexpected places they pop up in.
