(For my birthday, I asked for Ask Me Anything Questions. I got so many wonderful ones. I'm answering them in entries from here until I get to the end. If you think of something you want to ask, just leave a comment or a note. Deadline is totally not a thing.)

What is your favorite birthday memory?

I actually have a pile of favorites!

When I turned 16. I got my driver's license that day. It was also a big birthday for my Mom as I also ran my first errand for her that day and chauffeured my brother and sister to wherever they needed to be. She called it Mom Liberation Day.

When I turned 40 I was working for IBM in Rochester, MN. There was a portable highway sign that popped up all over town for various events. It was a true Rochester thing. My friend, John, arranged for it to be on the side of the road outside the IBM plant as I (and everyone else who worked at that IBM plant) drove in to work that day.

It led to an entire day of celebration where ever I went. We were also entertaining a very big customer that day with several IBM executives in from New York. I was the speech writer supposedly invisible in the back to the room. Except not that day. And, at the end of it, at the big customer dinner, they rolled out a huge birthday cake. It was quite the birthday.

For my 50th birthday, I met 3 friends in Las Vegas for the weekend and we had a ball.

And for my 70th birthday, my nephew (huge Red Sox fan) and his wife and my brother all came to town and we got to go to the Mariner Season Opener which was against the Red Sox. It was a great game AND a wonderful weekend.

And they were putting pictures off Twitter onto the stadium screen during batting practice. That one made it but I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of the picture.

Your 70th reminds me of my 65th. When I realized that the weekend of my birthday included (1) a Friday contra dance at the LGBT Center in Greenwich Village, (2) a Saturday matinee of the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Die Walküre, and (3) a weekend-long series of Red Sox at Yankees, including Sunday night, I informed [livejournal.com profile] jwg that he was taking me to New York for my birthday weekend. It was great fun, and the Red Sox won decisively on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

That 40th, especially, is quite something! Although the 50th and 70th were probably even more fun :)
