Cautiously optomistic

This is Biggie, just now. He's sitting where his food normally is. His food is behind the door in the half bath. He's fasting for his photos this morning. Last night I was allowed to feed him a little bit between 6 and 8 pm. He ate maybe a tablespoon full and not enthusiastically. Don't tell the vet but this morning, I did give him one tiny treat (after he let me clip a nail) this morning to see if he would eat it and he gobbled it with gusto.
He seems way more his normal self this morning. He's a lot perkier than yesterday. He peed in the litter box. In just a few minutes, I have to get this capsule down his throat. That's going to be tons o' fun. So is getting him back into the carrier.
Well, he just hopped up here to crawl on the keyboard and the pill bottle was right here so I did the deed. Two tries and he swallowed the capsule! Hurdle 1, cleared!! Now he's back to sitting where his food should be. We still have a couple of hours before time to leave for the vet.
The Mariner game starts today at 10. I suspect we'll still be at the vets but it's ok if they start without me. My main hope is that I don't have to listen to it in the car waiting outside the vet hospital.
Other projects for today are the bedroom closets. I'm about done and it's so wonderful. I am going to have empty shelves! Plus much easier access/visibility to stuff. And I have a much better plan for raising up the TV. Here's hoping the vet sends us sraight home so we can get to it all.

Date: 2021-04-24 04:39 pm (UTC)This reminds me of a hilarious description of "how to give a cat a pill" that I read years ago. Note to self, I must go hunt it down. It starts with the human outlining the steps, something along "gently pick cute, soft, little kitty up, pill ready in your right hand, and ask that they please swallow it"... "firmly grip kitty, take a second pill, tilt their head back a bit and drop the pill in between the hissing fits"... "wrap a towel around your arm to stem the blood and take a moment to recover from the dizziness"... "retrieve the pill from under the couch"..."leave the devil spawn up on the curtain rails and call a friend to take you to hospital". I know it sounds a bit dark, but I think everyone who has ever had to try and give a cat a pill will appreciate it, especially if you're a single parent with a kid that has telepathic abilities when it comes to vet visits and medicine. Lol Big hugs to you and Biggie!
