Birthday Answers
Apr. 24th, 2021 08:33 amLet's have another birthday question before I stuff this cat back into his carrier.
(For my birthday, I asked for Ask Me Anything Questions. I got so many wonderful ones. I'm answering them in entries from here until I get to the end. If you think of something you want to ask, just leave a comment or a note. Deadline is totally not a thing.)

2. Has there been one decade in your life that was better than any other?
All of them have had a healthy mix of good and bad. If I had to pick one out, it might be 1985-95. My marriage disaster was over. My job at IBM had finally moved from beginning to interesting. I was on the move. Literally. I moved all over the country from one IBM job to another. I'd mostly go in on short-ish term assignments - support for product announcements, etc. They had a distinct end so then I'd move on to the next. Always in a different and new (to me) part of the country. It was wonderful. I had a great work life and a very fun life out of work. I traveled to the Caribbean a couple of times a year. (I had a friend who loved to go to various Caribbean islands and he’d make all the travel arrangements. I’d pay my half but I did none of the work. I’d just pack my bag and head to the airport. No decisions to make. A different island to see. It was great). I had a large group of friends. There were day trips and weekend trips all over everywhere. It was a great 10 year stretch.

Date: 2021-04-24 06:21 pm (UTC)IBM sent me to New Orleans for a conference. It was actually cheaper if I stayed an extra day, so I got a day of sightseeing on IBM's dime.
