Particularly after I was an adult, I remember my mother and my father always asking how I slept after greeting me with a Good Morning. It was a kind of 'how are you' question in that the response expected was Good or Great. They did not want details or negative info. These days I so wish they were alive so, when they asked, I could throw Fitbit + Sleep Tracker right at them. I have more data about how I sleep these days than Facebook collects in a year.

I enjoy checking and comparing every morning. Last, for instance, I thought I slept great. Fitbit was pretty much in agreement. Sleep Tracker, however, was not as enthusiastic. Oh well. 2 out of 3.

Biggie's biting has taken a new turn. It's been several days since he's even tried. This morning, he did it twice. Oh so very gently. The first time, he just rested his teeth on my arm so gently, I almost didn't notice until he jumped back ready for punishment. The second time, he just touched my fingers with his teeth and backed right off. I know he's trying to convey information but I'm just not translating. Hopefully, we're winding down from the biting phase.

Yesterday I got quite a few things done that have needed to be done but weren't top on my list. The bedroom organization is finished for now. The TV is at a good height. I have empty shelves. My clothes are all where I can easily find and get to them. And all is good. I got my car cleaned out and the rest of the Costco haul all upstairs and put away. And I gathered up several bags for Goodwill.

AND... I cut my hair with my latest toy - it's a AirCut which is a Flowbee without all of the baggage. Flowbee needs two electrical outlets and one vacuum cleaner and it's a huge hassle to get all the bits operational. The Aircut is like the first portable hair dryers. Bigger than most modern ones but not huge. Easy to hold and use. My hair is very fine and not thick at all and gently curly and it really loves this new toy.

Today is a grocery day. I don't need a lot but I do need bread. The Japanese bakery I could walk to does not have the bread I want so it's a car trip to somewhere else. But, that's fine because the somewhere else I have in mind takes me by Krispy Kreme. Win win. But, first, I need to get dressed and before that I'd love a shower.

Biggie is doing his Lions of the Library pose this morning...

If I've ever mentioned this to you in your journal before now, I apologize for the repetition.

Ages and ages ago, I read that often what we humans perceive as aggression in cats when they nip or bite is actually a kind of intense kiss. Licking does convey affection, but the "love bite" means they're really, really super-happy wuvvoosooooomuch! Kind of drunk or delirious on happiness or love.

When I first started brushing our big male with a grooming brush he was so happy I wasn't sure I wouldn't eventually lose a forearm! A fine-toothed pet comb just didn't make it for him.

We talk to our cats. We explain things like going food shopping and that we'll be back in a little while, or that one of us has to be away for the day or that both of us have to be gone but that we'll be back "in time for food for you" or "in time for sleeping," which of course means our sleeping. Without any shouting or punishment for using his teeth, we explained to him that he needed to express his delight and enjoyment of "Miss Kitty," as we've dubbed all such brushes because that is the name of one such at the pet supplies store, in a gentler way easier for humans to tolerate. Occasionally he'll gently take hold of forearm or hand, but mostly now he head-butts the hand holding the brush, and pushes against it and twines himself around hand, brush and forearm.

Biggie may be learning that his "love nips" are causing you distress, pain, displeasure. He loves you, so as he comes to realize you have a different idea of play or of demonstrations of affection, he may settle into a kindlier mode of self-expression.

The other thing is, he may have a dominant personality. Our big male has; he wasn't neutered until he was three or four, at the shelter where he was a rescued stray. The first vet we took him to alerted us to the fact that he'll probably always want to be boss. I've explained: I'm the boss cat. I think he accepts that because I went to a lot of trouble to impress on him my status as his kitty-mama.
And mama remains firmly ensconced as his mama and teacher and bringer of all good things.

Biggie can bite because it's spring now, there are more hormones in the body, even if it is castrated.
If he is vomiting with foam, it would be good to have his liver checked.
I'm not a doctor, I just made assumptions.
