(For my birthday, I asked for Ask Me Anything Questions. I got so many wonderful ones. I'm answering them in entries from here until I get to the end. If you think of something you want to ask, just leave a comment or a note. Deadline is totally not a thing.)

What would an “ideal day of eating and drinking” be for you? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks... or whatever structure you’d like!

Oh this question is torture. I love to eat. I don’t have the physical capacity to work in everything I would want in one ideal day! So I’m going to tweak this to my favorite 3 meals and a snack…

Breakfast would have to be eggy and cheesy so probably Eggs Benedict OR possibly Croque Madame. With a bloody mary - that has a salad on top - like this one.

Lunch. I’d start with a cold soup. Gazpacho, please. Then, I’m thinking a beautiful reuben sandwich with perfect french fries (crisp and golden on the outside and pillowy on the inside). OR maybe a butter, prosciutto, cantaloupe sliver sandwich on french bread. And a very cold beer.

Dinner. This one is tough. I want to go with something very difficult and fiddly to prepare but my tongue and taste buds want a thick, rare slick of prime rib with baked potato and something green and crunchy with a cheese or butter sauce.

Snacks - Savory. I’m going to have to go with Chex Mix. Traditional, back of the chex box Chex Mix but, I think I'd leave out nuts.

Snacks - Sweet. I want a slick or 10 of plain white wedding cake with white butter cream frosting from Dewey’s Bakery in Winston-Salem, NC. With a cup of hazelnut flavored coffee - black, no sugar.

[edit - but, you know what, I just had a slice of Costco meatloaf with a helping of Costco mashed potatoes and a serving of frozen corn giblets - all reheated in the microwave... and it was delicious! My tongue is not fancy :) ]

I waited so patiently for this answer... But I actually ended up playing the game with my husband and I, too, would absolutely have a Bloody Mary somewhere in there, the more fixings the better!

Mouth watering.

It was hard.

Right! We kept adding and switching stuff lol. “We forgot fried chicken!”

Bloody Mary’s are my favorite cocktail! The way people are impressed with those ice cream cones dipped in chocolate with a cupcake on top wrapped in cotton candy or whatever, is the way I’d feel at your ~music to my ears: Bloody Mary Bar.

This made me giggle because I don’t think you ever cook any of these things normally - or buy them. I would want at least some of my favourite perfect meals (or a reasonable attempt at them) once in a while.

I had brunch in New Orleans last weekend. I picked a Mimosa instead of a Bloody Mary, but it was the best Mimosa I've ever had. With coffee, eggs scrambled with some kind of cheese, nice buttery crunchy toast, crisp bacon, fresh biscuits, and CHEESE GRITS!!!!!! OMG wonderful, every bit of it!
