Solving problems - hope...
Apr. 28th, 2021 07:38 pmI have one access to the outside - sliders to the terrace. I have a portable air conditioner that needs to be vented to the outside. I have a cat that demands access to the outside. I need to close the door to the outside in Summer when the air conditioner is on.
And, just as the cold weather started, I got an email from Frigidaire that they were changing apps and the old one won't work any more. Also they quit making this model of A/C and so what if it just no longer worked? The old app was very persnickety but I did not expect the new one to be a lot better. Once you got it attached to wifi, it was fine but getting it to latch on was a bitch.
So with hot weather looming, all this has been on my brain. Finally tonight I decided to turn it on and see what happened. I didn't vent it but turned it on, downloaded the app, and tried to hook up the wifi. It took a while and a couple of tries and it's clear that Frigidaire has only a tenuous grasp on wifi and access but I did get it connected. So yeah.
In my head I had a plan that involved cutting a hole in Biggie's cat door - above his flap. Turns out the A/C hose is too fat. The method I used last year involved styrofoam and I'm not excited about doing that again. Plus it was not a great set up. And then, tonight, it dawned on me that I could get another cat door but get the next bigger size!
My plan is to cut a hole and thread the hose right into that hole. So then I will have a Summer cat door and a winter cat door... They fold flat and are easy to store. So I ordered up the medium size.
There are still ways the plan could go south but I'm feeling better about my chances for a cool Summer.

Fear not, however. I do have a Bill list.
