I need a new game addiction. Whadya got? What do play standing in line? What do you play instead of doing a load of laundry. What do you play in bed at night when you know that even having your phone on before you go to sleep is a bad idea?

Here are my current and mostly very long term gotos that need a rest:

Montezuma 3

Gin Rummy Pro

Handwrite Sudoku

I like a good match 3 but ONLY if it's one you pay for in total at the start. I don't have patience for these collect coin things or nickel and dime you all the time OR have ads that stop game flow.

Ditto for bubble shooters. I played Bubble Blast 2 for ages but finally got tied of it.

On my tablet in bed while watching baseball or listening to my book, I play old old old games that are no longer available anywhere. I saved their APK's years ago and while they don't work great, I've never found suitable replacements.

My phone and tablet are android but maybe your excellent iphone/ipad app is one i can find for android.

Suggestions?

I am completely addicted to Words with Friends. I play it in all those places at all those times. I also sometimes play Addiction Solitaire on my tablet, but a phone screen is too small.

My personal addiction is Bejeweled Blitz, but it won’t meet your criteria since it has tons of ads.

I used to play a lot of a Mah Jongg game on an android tablet and that was a good distraction and ad-free.

I also liked a trivia game called Red Herring, but I don’t know if it is still around.

Oh, wait-I have the perfect answer for you. The New York Times puzzle page has Tiles. It’s a tile matching game and completely addictive.

https://mahjon.gg is not really mah jong, it's just a tile matching game. Click on matching tiles and they disappear. The object is to disappear all the tiles without having to ask for hints, or shuffle. When there are no hints, one must shuffle. Sometimes the final pair are on top of each other and you are SOL.

I like PEAK brain games. It's got language games, memory games and coordination games. I'm pretty into the different word games, and don't often stray too much further.

I play a crossword puzzle game, but they nickel and dime you to death with having to watch videos to earn coins. :P

I am completely addicted to Fishdom, which has great graphics and fun side games as well as the main games.

I also more recently have become addicted to Royal Match.

I like brainless things like those for while I'm watching TV. :)

I love Homescapes. It's a match game, but you also get to build a house, which is the part I like.

I play Monopoly. Sometimes our whole family play it together against each other, too!

For years I played WEBoggle, which I enjoyed a lot. Each game only lasts 3 minutes, which is great when you don't have a lot of time to waste play. Ever since I switched to Windows 10, I have gotten the message: "Your connection is not fully secure". whenever I click on their page. so, that is out for now. I just found an updated version of the game through WordsPlay which does not have the security issue.

I'm a sucker for hidden object games. For the past year I have been addicted to June's Journey. I was into Gardens of Time when it was a hot game on Facebook. Same principles. Heck, I still love those Where's Waldo and I Spy books. They're not good for waiting in line, but they are a good time waster when you don't want to do the laundry.

There's a hidden-object game that is contextualized within a story with great graphics--- Murder in the Alps, it's called.

I'm streaky about the many games I'm going to in this way---love how you put it about the types of contexts in which one may turn to phone games.

Skipping the Apple Arcade games (nice graphics games you get for a $5/mo subscription with iPhone), here are a few I've been choosing from lately:

Ultimate Golf
Cooking Fever
Battleship
SuperHitBaseball (like cheesy old-fashioned arcade baseball)
BubbleCloud (a different kind of bubble shooter---renewed my interest in bubble shooting)
Tennis Clash
Rummy Stars (I'll check out your gin rummy app)
BGNJ (backgammon)
100 Balls (regular and 3D)
Rope 'n' Fly
Archery King
MLB TSB 20 (more like real baseball)
Hit Tennis 3
Soccer Stars (It's like shuffleboard soccer)
Hole.io
Bus Simulator (and its driving simulation cousins)
Merged
Subway Surf
Pocket Planes
Paper Toss

plus a variety of dominoes, mahjong & other card games
