wins and losses
May. 5th, 2021 04:17 pmThe Walmart trip was good but man were their cupboards bare. They just had shit for choices. (Later in the day, I was talking to my brother and he wondered if it wasn't due to the canal backup when that ship got stuck. I'm guessing he's right. Wild.) Anyway, I got stuff and that's what I wanted so all's fine. I was looking for some sandals but I couldn't find any like I wanted. But I got lots of steps looking at Target and DSW and TJ Maxx (which were all there in one place).
Then home to a clean house and delivery from the cat door people. In my mind, I'd just carve out a hole with an exacto knife and thread the a/c hose through the hole. In reality, I kind of did that. It was a whole more difficult than I imagined but, it actually worked!!!

It looks way better than other set ups I've had in the past!
This was a few years ago.

This was last year.

I am very pleased. The cat door that was there will go into storage until next fall when I'll swap 'em out.
At Walmart, I was looking in the kitty section and discovered something called a 'calming collar'. I'd never heard of such a thing. So when I got home, I dug into the situation and found that there are calming collars that get rave reviews (and tons of them) and also calming treats. The treats were cheaper and I could get them today so I did. I'm hoping that if I can get Biggie to chill the fuck out, he'll quit biting me.
The treats arrived and they are huge. About the size of three of his normal treats and four of his regular kibble. I think that was part of the problem. But, yes, this cat that eats plastic, would not eat his drugs! I finally convinced him and he chewed it up and swallowed it but clearly the collar is worth a try. It will be here Friday. (Walmart's offering was double the price of all the ones available on Amazon.)
The Mariner game sucked.
The housecleaner did a great job in all the areas I wanted her to. When I got out of Walmart, I checked the living room cam to see how close she was to done and discovered her rummaging through my two big pantry drawers. They are big deep drawers and one holds sweets and the other holds savory stuff (crackers, chips, etc). She dug around in one a long time and then did the same with the other. So weird. She didn't take anything out of either one but weird. I decided not to worry about it. No harm, no foul. Just weird. She will have been cleaning my house for more than a dozen years this year. And if she wants a cookie, I'm fine with that, really.
There's big condo news. They changed how we get deliveries and told no one. There is a big package locker down in the garage. For years now (like 20 or more) the management has required that everyone - all delivery people - leave their packages either in or by that locker. So the Amazon drivers just dump their load there. USPS puts them in the locker. FedEx and everyone else dump on Amazon's pile. The building manger, at the end of the day, comes down and moves them all into the locker and sends you an email if you have one. It's a stupid system but, whatever. Well, now, according to a very small sign by the elevator, delivery people are told to deliver everything to the unit door.
Once half the building figures out this new policy, the shit will hit the fan just because it's change. For me there is no downside. I'm always here and am a slave to tracking numbers so no biggie. And now, no one is traveling that much but I do expect there to be some package pile ups and bitching and moaning.Condo life. Gotta love it.
Now I need to clean up my mess and get to that crochet hook!

Date: 2021-05-06 03:23 am (UTC)I think it is unlikely that I’d get a package when I’m away. I used to have an arrangement with my next door neighbor to take in packages for one another, but she sold her unit and my new neighbor and I barely say hello to one another.

Now, our Sox game, that really sucked. Started half an hour late, went 10 innings, Sox almost won several times but didn't (losing to Detroit, fergodsake), and it was fucking cold.
At least Burningbright is happy for a change.
