In order to see baseball games, I pay an enormous cable bill. The cable company's 'tuner' is the same TiVo that I've used for ages. One reason I keep cable, besides the baseball, is TiVo. It's a great TV watching/recording device. (Over the air TV is not practical in this old warehouse building.)
But, TiVo has fallen on hard times. Their customer service has sucked for years but it has recently risen to the highest suckage level possible. This is usually an indication that hospice has been called. If TiVo dies, then I am done with cable. Baseball or no baseball. This could be the last Summer for all of it. And I'm resigned.
I am also tired of watching no hitter baseball with the no hitting being my team. Twice in two weeks is not reasonable.
Also changing is my phone. Every year, about this time, Google releases their latest operating system in beta form so that developers can redo their work to upfit for the new stuff. They very clearly discourage non-developers from using it. Every year, I pretend I am a developer and download it. Some years have been a little more rough than others but it's so hard to resist getting the new stuff early. Last year several things didn't work and I vowed to stop jumping on the first beta.
They announced the beta yesterday and made it available for download. My vow lasted a good 10 minutes. I did look at the bug report to see what was reported broken. And I did make sure my backup phone was still operational. And then I downloaded the new stuff.
So far, so good. The big thing for me is tap to pay. That was the big issue last year. This year, it looks like it's unaffected but I may need to go to the corner store and test today to make sure.
I started reading Stacey Abrams new legal thriller last night. The narrator is horrible. I can forgive a mispronounced word here or there and/or the ignoring of obvious punctuation, now and again. But, not multiple instances... in the prologue. And my fears of this being a little more Romance than Thriller were also born out quickly. So... bail. Life is too short and there are too many good things to read/listen to.
Today will be crochet. I have Yet Another New Project on the hook and I'm on it. I will go over to the little market but that's it for out of the house plans. I think maybe I'll do some laundry. The benefit of laundry, besides clean clothes, is steps. The washing machine is at the far end of this very long, narrow flat. So doing multiple loads means many extra steps.
Justification at its finest.
