My scooter and I had a fine trip this morning. It was raining but Seattle rain so more of a mist and didn't pose a problem. The drug store I went to is one I've only been in once or twice but it's close and it's really nice. I needed fat q-tip swabs and eye drops for itchy eyes.

Then onto the Japanese grocery where I picked up all I needed and lunch.

It was my first outing with my new basket and backpack and they both were perfect. Easy to drop things into the backpack. I thought the basket might be too big to maneuver but nope. Perfect. I made a stop at the Asian French bakery and then home.

My eyes were really itching so I tore into the eye drops and loaded up my eyes and got an immediate reaction. The itching was replaced right away by pain and burning! It was horrible and took about an hour to go away completely. WTF? Clear Eyes Eye Drops Itchy Eye Relief, Maximum Strength. No mention anywhere that these drops will kill you but they sure felt like it. Holy crapoly. I have some fake tear drops that I'll use until I get to the eye doctor and find out WTF is going on. Geesh.

Then I had to go out again. One of the pair of shoes from Amazon arrived. Nice and wide but way too short. So back they went. Oh fuck. I just realized I left my Krispy Kreme donut in the car. Buggers.

I got the plugs all sorted out and Alexa knows about the swap so she'll know what to turn off when.

When I was out, I finally spied one of these new bikes - rent/ride/drop wherever. I thought I'd seen ones with helmets before but I wasn't sure. Yep. There it is. Very cool. I wanted to scope it out in case [livejournal.com profile] bill_schubert feels like wheeling around while he's here. We have several different bike (and scooter - not mobility) options but these are the coolest look AND have the helmet.

Biggie has now settled in here next to me so I think we'll turn on the TV and start hookin'

Like that they've solved the helmet issue. Assuming it works well. Funny. They've given up on ANY exercise at all with this. No pedals. No pretend you're riding a bike at all. Definitely need to test it out.

OWIE is right! Yikes! Your poor eyes! I wonder if you are allergic to something in them? I had that problem with a contact lens solution. I developed an allergy after using it and experienced pain like that. I just gave up on contacts rather than messing around with finding a new solution.

True to their word, the eye drops did stop the itching. So there's that.

Or have your own helmet. . . Although I would probably rent a regular pedal bike.

Tasha has that reaction to many eyedrops and it's a reaction to the preservatives. Could be that maybe?

My ophthalmologist has always emphasized artificial tears, no fancy additives. Bottled water also works, and the opening fits my eye (YMMV).

That looks like a decent bike option. I’m guessing it’s electric? I’m undecided about the helmets. Part of me loves the convenience and added safety. Part of me is squicked out at the prospect of using a helmet previously worn by a complete stranger. Also, how adjustable would it be for my pinhead?
