Going swimming!
May. 26th, 2021 09:21 amYesterday, the way from here to Michaels was easy and fairly traffic free. I was really surprised because it involves going through a fairly congested area. I expected it to be annoying but it was not. One of the two gyms where I can swim* is not that far from Michaels... So this morning I called to see what the COVID deal was and a really nice man said that you still had to make reservations and they were only for 30 minutes ("but you can keep swimming until the next person shows up"). But, what the hell. He had an opening tomorrow at 11:30. Might as well give the whole thing - the trip there and back and the swim a shot.
*My lungs no longer tolerate chlorine pools. There are two LA Fitness gyms (to which my health insurance pays membership) that have pools treated with bromine which, so far, is ok with my lungs. One of those pools is only 11 minutes from here... when the bridge in between is open. That bridge is currently under repair and will be open again next Summer we hope. The detour is full of traffic and takes a good 30 to 40 minutes. The other one is the one I'm going to tomorrow.
It's worth a try. At least the one I'm going to tomorrow has a Trader Joe's in the same building. Wonder if I need any Trader Joe's anything?
Last night was great fun and very delicious. Frank's recent car trip had taken him through Kansas City and to a great barbeque place and he brought back the ribs and pulled pork and sauce and sides and brought them all over here to share with me. Oh so good. My stove was shocked. Not only did we use two burners at one time - which never happens, we also had the oven on. More action that that stove had seen in its lifetime! The food was just amazing. And I now have four ribs in my fridge waiting for me.
Frank is a major cat lover and Biggie gravitated to him like a magnet. They played and rubbed and played and rubbed practically the whole time Frank was here. Not a single bite. Biggie was exhausted last night. He climbed up on the bed and snuggled into me and did not move all night. This morning he was sweet and snuggly but when I would not let him on the table, he bit my arm. But not hard and not mean. It was different than his other bites. I also switched up the vacuuming this morning so he could ignore it and that worked great. So... who knows. The life of Biggie.
Today we'll be hanging out around here. The baseball game is at 1 and I want to get this sweater done or at least to the point of sleeves or vest? So that's the plan du jour.
Biggie has already gone back to bed.
