The wontons arrived yesterday with fixin's and instructions for very simple wonton soup.

I just followed the instructions exactly and it was fabulous.

It was not a great day for soup. I'm not even a fan of soup. And... still... it was fabulous. Just delicious.

Before that, however, I did my Goodwill run. And it was VERY successful. I found two things I really wanted that I didn't even know I wanted and the one thing that I went to get. I needed something 13-18" high to support the a/c hose so that the pet door doesn't get ripped out because of the weight. Found a perfect tiny table for $5 that looks fine and does the job.

Then home where my Amazon delivery arrived. I have a 2 foot x 3 foot hole in my cool zone. The door shade cannot come down further because of the a/c hose and a whole lotta sun and heat sneaks in.

Initially I thought about car shades. But car shades are too small. Finally I got one of those accordion things built to go across the car window. The size was pretty close but the thing was really flimzy AND missing a part. So back to the search engine.

I found a clever suction cup blackout curtain thing that would work but it was ugly and to take it down you had to completely dismantle - take all the suction cups off and then reapply. So if I wanted it off for a few days like this week, it would be a hassle. And it was just too ugly to leave up all the time. And it was not cheap.

BUT... it gave me the solution. I had seen a bunch of very opaque drapes at Goodwill this morning. So I hopped back into the car, with the Amazon shade, now an Amazon return, and went back to Goodwill. They had a ton of choices and I got a perfectly excellent one that is the ivory of my door frame. $5. I ordered up some suction cups and grommets from Amazon $11 total. My plan is to make a cover for the sliding door that fits it exactly. The make holes with the grommets and mount it using them on the suction cup hooks! Perfect. Easy up/easy down.

Stopped at Amazon for the return and the nicest guy popped out from the back room to see if he could help. I actually had thought it was one kind of return (qr code) when it was another (print label) and so was just getting ready to figure out how to pivot when this guy came out and walked me through it - so nicely. Amazon, this is why you get so much of my money.

And, of course, I dipped into Krispy Kreme whilc I was out. It's was right there!

I also passed the baseball stadium (the team is out of town) and there was a herd of graduates in caps and gowns milling around the entrance. There's a sight I haven't seen in a very long while. Living near two stadiums, graduations are an every day occurrence this time of year - at least pre-pandemically speaking but this is the first one I've seen since mid 2019. Wow.

Home now and almost cooled off and pretty damn pleased with my sun blocking solution.

Plus, so many steps today! I expect a call from Fitbit any minute now.

Oh which reminds me of one more thing... Washington (and a handful of other states) are using MyIr.Net to house immunization records. Provide history, send reminders, etc. I registered today and gave them what I thought was really minimal info and BAM. There was my life in shots going back years. It was really surprising. I'm delighted and grateful for the opportunity but people who want to keep that shit secret must be appalled. On the other hand, the site is so slow, even data thieves must give up before they get the goods.

On the other hand looks like I'm up for Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, etc. Oh well.

I nees these wontons in my Seattle freezer! Sounds like I had better order them now... I am really hoping your hot weather was a fluke, and it's going to be the coldest summer in the past few years in Seattle, and I am going to need lots of Wonton soup. ;)

Man, i wish they had this stuff worldwide. I have no idea what shots i had as a kid, so the last time i went traveling i just asked the doctor to give me a booster for everything. Now i am carrying around a limp, half-soaked, dried-out, ink-running, yellow fever passport with some vaccination history in German, which no non-German doctor can read, plus another little card for my COVID vaccination. It would be amazing to get access to all this stuff online and not have to carry around a dumb piece of paper everywhere.
