Sharing. I think it's funny how the world of sharing has taken on a tech patina. Social media wants you to share everything everywhere with everyone you know or don't know. But that same social media is now having a fit because Amazon's Echo will soon be able to share very limited wifi to enhance overall services to everyone. (As with nearly fucking everything, if you don't like it, don't want it or don't agree with it, Don't Fucking Use It!)

Ok, rant over. Cooling down.

Even my sleep tracker enjoyed the cool last night. It's the first night in a month that it has not reported that my sleeping area was too hot. I actually pulled up a second blanket. It was wonderful and particularly sweet knowing it would be one of the last for a while.

I placed a grocery order with Amazon - delivery today from 8-10. I totally meant to have been in and out of the shower by 8. I blew it. Now I'm dirty until they show up. Usually they get here just before the window but it's still showing that they are packing my order. Usually 'pack' means they are putting it into the driver's car at the Fresh depot just down the street. So time between pack and 'on the way' and 'at your door' is under 5 mins. They will drop the bags off at my door but I have to be able to let them into the building via the phone so not in the shower.

Oh well, no biggie. I'm going nowhere today anyway. I plan on making potato salad. And knitting.

My sweater is coming along nicely. It's knit all in one piece from the collar down. I'm at about 4 inches past the sleeves so I could try it on and see if it was worth continuing. I do not like the look of this yarn (it was cheap) but I like the feel a lot and the fit is spot on so the sweater will continue. I'll just have to make another one out of yarn I love and save this one for inside the house. (It takes a fair amount of yarn and nice yarn ain't cheap.)

ohhhhhhh I just saw that a great catfish restaurant is opening here on June 19!! The owner had a restaurant here for years and then it died - family feud. Now he's opening a new place, a fairly easy distance from here. Next to the new Amazon Fresh store which is STILL not open. Anyway, quite excited. His old restaurant was a favorite of my Mom's. It was at the top of her request list whenever she came to visit. I'm very jazzed.

Not so fun fact, when I first moved here, this place had the most delicious peach cobbler ever. They served it hot with cold cream poured over it. It was the kind of food you step on old ladies to get to. Then one time, actually, it was the last time Mom was here, we went and ordered up the uge - catfish, hush puppies, coleslaw and peach cobbler, please. Only to be told that there was no more peach cobbler. When we fell prostrate onto the floor (in expression only actually), we learned that Grandma was the one who made the cobbler. And Grandma had passed (at age 96 - no one saw that coming????) and taken the recipe with her! Seriously.

Jackson is a great catfish cooker but restauranteur, planner for the future? maybe not so much. But, I am excited he's trying again. Hope Grandma is sorry for what she did.

Ooops. Groceries just went from 'packing' to 'You Are Next'. Time to get busy.

Does the bed give you an idea of what an ideal temperature is?

Yeah. I opted out of the Amazon Sidewalk thing. It wasn't hard. We've enough bandwidth problems here as it is.

The cobbler thing is like people who insist on keeping their secret family recipes to themselves. I mean really. Unless you're Mrs Fields, why hoard your recipe instead of spreading the joy around?

Wasn't the Amazon thing announced and tittered over months ago? I looked into it and am pretty sure that a neighborhood set up like ours will not work and I could care less. The big issue is as usual people using technology they are too lazy to figure out. And then get lathered up when things are happening they don't understand.

But it is nice for the world to be all worried about Alexa and flying saucers again.

As far as I can tell, the real issue with Amazon Sidewalk is the potential that it could be exploited to attack the people using it, not the bandwidth it uses. For most people, that bandwidth isn't going to be a problem.

There’s not much on this earth better than a warm peach crisp. (I prefer a crisp over cobbler but either will work) with French vanilla ice cream.

Great. Now I’m drooling over here.

I love Amazon, but not so much with this Sidewalk thing. Fortunately it was easy enough to opt out of their latest brainstorm.
