The vet's recommendation is that first we try drugs. If no work, then we try behaviorist. So that's what we're doing. (Also, the tech told me when I was getting pick up details, "I've seen these things do wonders for cats like him.")

1/2 capsule twice a day. They will text me tomorrow when I can come get 'em.

I'm so relieved and hopeful.

Kitty trancs eh? Hopefully that will work and you won't have to go to a kitty shrink.

The vet prescribed Trazodone my roommate's crazy dog. After she took him to a behaviorist. To calm him down. She's given him twice what I sometimes take for sleep. It seemed to have no affect. Pretty much knocks me out. But he is truly nuts. And an older dog too. Weighs about 90 lbs. I was shocked.

The vet recommended that she have him put down. He could be dangerous. She won't do that though. He's been with her for a long time. Every time he goes to the vet it costs a pile of money. Because they have to knock his ass out to do anything.

I hope this works for Biggie. I was really sorry to see what he did to your arm.

Zara has been on an antianxiery drug (BuSpar) since she bit my mom. It seems to help her somewhat, but she's still high-strung.

Why suppressing the symptoms and not taking care of the cause?

Fingers crossed and a little prayer said for both Biggie and you that this is successful.
I know it's hard when the patient doesn't speak and you have only what's happening/his behavior to guide you. Well, behavior and some lab work (yes?)

I’m working my way backwards through posts and wondered what the vet had recommended. A) sorry about the latest bite. B) Good. I don’t understand people who think that brain chemistry is any different than another form of illness. If you can treat something with medication to put your body in balance, why wouldn’t you? It’s not like Biggie is going to sit through hours of cognitive behavioural therapy - he’s a cat!

I am wondering about how difficult will it be to get Biggie to take the 1/2 of a pill.
All of the cats I've had would fight, bite and scratch when we tried to give them any kind of pill except for vitamin E.
Good luck with your bi-polar fuzzball.
