Five days ago, Biggie started taking kitty valium. I've been watching him like a hawk looking at everything he does more than once to see if it's a sign of the new him.

Before valium, he played in the mornings and slept all afternoon - usually under the bed. He sometimes came out about dinner time and then slept all night. Yesterday, he slept most of all the day under the bed. Today he was up early and has napped around the living room here and there. And striking the pose above which cracked me up.

For three days I stood at the counter and rattled his pill bottle and his treat cup and he came running. This morning he sat un moving on the couch when I rattled. So I went to him. He gave a half-hearted try to resist the pill but didn't put much into it and ate up his treats.

Just now he's out on his tree actively looking at his world.

He has not spent a lot of time near me, aka biting range. When he comes close, I try to scratch his head or rub his chin but he's not that keen on either. But, he hasn't tried to bite my hand or arm at all. Not even once.

Last night, I got up to pee and he got up and came in the bathroom and casually put his teeth on my shin. He didn't bite but clearly told me he could.

I know it's way too early to get a bead on how things will be but that doesn't stop me from watching and guessing.

You might want to check liver enzymes on Biggie if used long term. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951422

Love the picture. Looks like he's gesturing with the outstretched paw, saying, "C'mere, let me have at you!"

That is a very striking picture. He is always a lovely cat, but those eyes!

It’s only been a few days on the valium. He knows he feels funny and something is off for him. It may take a few weeks for everything to settle, and he accepts the “New Biggie” going forward. But it does look promising!

Very interesting! Is it a tranquiliser or is it Prozac? I had an aggressive cat once and she got prescribed prozac and it did help a lot.
