THE day!

It's hot. It sucks. I hate hot. End Of Rant.

My treadmill sits on a rubber pad next to the bed. Biggie spent the night on the small strip of pad next to the treadmill. Odd, but, ok. This morning he popped up early to check on Robby and then went outside for Tree Duty. He's been in and out but mostly out up there for the past two hours. Not napping. On full alert. It is garbage collection day... I don't know. I guess I'll have to wait for his report.

Today's my first baseball game. (That aborted effort a month or so ago does not count.) The gates open at 5:10. I'll be there then. There's dinner and then batting practice before the game. I need to starve today and work up a good hungry. Here's the details on the buffet spread.

And the details.

The dinner - all food and drink - is included with the ticket price. You can hang out at the bar or go on out to the field and watch batting practice. Once you are out in your seat, there are servers who bring you whatever you want to eat or drink during the game. Or you can go back into the clubhouse and watch it on TV (which I did once at an afternoon game when it was Africa Hot). And all that is aside from the fact that I'll be sitting so close to homeplate, I can see all the details - count the change in the umpire's pocket, so to speak. it's all pretty luxurious.

Prior to the pandemic, the Diamond Club was sold out to season ticket holders and pretty much full to the brim every game. But, I've noticed since they've opened it back up, that it is not nearly full. Not even half. (I can see a lot of the Diamond Club seat sections when the camera turns on a batter.) You can 'sell' you tickets back to the Mariners for full price. The money goes into your account and - this year only, carries over to 2022. So I'm wondering if a lot of people did that OR if they just gave up their seats altogether.

The first four (of 8) rows are people who bought that seat for every single home game. The back four rows of the Diamond Club seating sections are people like me who bought 20 games. A whole lot of all of Diamond Club ticket holders are companies. The seats next to me for the last few years were owned by a casino and given out as prizes. It made for an interesting parade of seatmates.

I'll also be really interested to find out tonight who has the seats next to my new seat.

So much excitement.

Between now and then, I have house chores. Laundry. I need to sort out bedding - where to store and what to Goodwill. And I need to tidy up the sewing room which has turned into kind of a catch all lately.

Oh and figure out which Mariner shirt to wear to the game!

That menu! OMG, I am so on board with that menu!
I'd go to the stadium for the game but I'd be at the stadium for the food, if I had one of those Diamond Club seats....
You'd be able to simply roll me down the street, I'm sure....

I'm just hopeful the Jays are actually able to play some games here in Toronto at some point this season... Maybe September?

I'm wondering about the V following the *Compound Butter*.

They don't say whether the V is "Vegan" or "Vegetarian", so maybe it's the latter. Alternatively, perhaps the bread is vegan and the butter is on the side.

As long as we're proofreading the menu (something I just can't help doing): Smoked New York what? Roasted "Cartos" & Parsnips? And that apostrophe on "Cheese's" has got to go.

Butter can't be *vegetarian* and still be butter.

I used to design menus and proofread them all the time. 😇

My understanding (possibly wrong or out of date) is that vegans won't eat any animal products at all (no dairy, no honey), but vegetarians are all right as long as the animal wasn't killed in the process (so, milk products and unfertilized eggs are OK).

The idea that "au jus" is an ingredient has been around a long time.

It is very odd that the one unusual salad (broccolini and burata) does not list all the ingredients. What the heck is burata? I hope you had some so you can tell me tomorrow.

Burata is a cheese, similar to mozzarella. Not very uncommon.

Thank you. I have never seen it here. Maybe it’s at a fancy cheese shop, but there aren’t many of those in my city and I am not a patron of the few that exist.

If you wanted to take a guest, could you? Or would you have to buy tickets elsewhere in the ballpark?

I'm a bit concerned about those carnalized onions that have gotten to third base.
