My phone, Alexa, every news site, Twitter, and tv news is screaming DANGEROUSLY HOT WEATHER COMING. Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday. With Monday promising to fry every cell we have. These warnings are kind of implying that Tuesday won't matter because there won't be survivors.

And speaking of survivors, as one who lives above the ground floor in a condo, that Miami condo collapse is just too close to home. And I'm only on the 4th floor with one floor above me. Yikes. Just horrendous in so very many ways. And who pays for that clean up? Our HOA has insurance for the building's common areas but if our building collapsed like that, I cannot imagine how many decades it would take for the various insurance companies to fight out a settlement. So, meanwhile, who cleans up? I wonder how long it will take them to track down the missing people. And the ones who got out alive. So many now with only the flip flops (if they are lucky) on their feet.

I'm even more grateful today for my air conditioner and home in one piece and flip flops on my feet. I have most of the lights - even the LED ones off. Well, live in the cool dark now until at least next week. It's apparently even too hot for Biggie this morning. He's in here chillin' with me.

He's had his pill du jour. Initially, he was fine with a pill a day but then it turned into pill fighting. Finally I got some pill pockets and this morning he gobbled a loaded one up with gusto. Whew.

Today's plan is mostly to finish off the sewing project. That room is a mess and I can't wait to but it back right again. The baseball game is at 5. Otherwise. I b coolin'

I'm dreading the heatwave--thankfully we have AC--but it's going to come our way in Alberta too! Stay cool!

Stay inside and don't step on any asphalt! (Well, if you stay inside, that means you won't step on any asphalt.)

I see you're having a cool change on Tuesday — it's only going to be 90ºF.

What kind of pill pockets do you use? I ask because I have to give Dobby his hypertension medicine daily, and he hated the pill pockets I tried almost as much as the pill itself! I'm at my wit's end, because he's now running when I offer him a treat! (I used to give him one when he took his pill, which only taught him to hate the treats, too!)

Per your veterinarian, is it workable/doable/permissible to crush Dobby's hypertension medication and mix it in with as little food as will allow you to hide the fact of the medication and get it into him that way?

'S O.K.
Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] sherlock999's veterinarian could so advise or has so advised re: Dobby.

I have a friend who I have known since I first got an ElJay. She used to live in Maryland and moved to Seattle to be with family. She is going on about how hot it's going to be and how there is no central air and she only has a small portable unit and yeah, maybe she's going to be one of those who won't survive. She's asked that people not make jokes about the heatwave for those reasons. I feel so bad for you guys, this is not just going to be rough but it's going to tax the power grid as well. BonnieCat sends her love to Biggie!

lol Although Texas is pretty hot. Has been. We're 'cooling off' for the weekend.

That's so horrible about that place in Florida. That's why all those concrete condos freak me out. I imagine that shit happening.

I live on the top floor of my building and I have to admit to an awful curiosity as to whether more people survived from the top floors of that condo community or if those who lived on the bottom floors, closer to exits, survived.

Staying cool and indoors seems like a good idea. Boston is supposed to have temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s Monday and Tuesday. It will probably be a bit cooler in Gloucester, but it still promises to be fairly unpleasant. We will probably spend a lot of time in the computer room (the only one with an air conditioner). Except Tuesday evening, when we'll be sweltering in Fenway Park.

On that other matter (I've probably mentioned this before), we had to give our last cat (gone 25 years ago now) a hormone pill every two weeks(?), and if we just presented it to her she would swallow it right away. I'm guessing that the manufacturer had cleverly coated it with something that tasted good to cats, and I've always wondered why this isn't a feature of all cat pills.
