Heat Dome Update... 89 degrees at 9:15 am. In a normal year, 80 degrees in Seattle is fairly rare. For the past 10 years our average high never even gets to 80.

There is a couple down the hall who moved in the spring of 2020. They have a gynormous dog who is nothing but hair. I mean he's the size of a standard lab with mastiff hair (actually, he might be a mastiff). The guy/owner also has gynormous hair - very nicely coifed dreadlocks halfway down his back. He (the guy, not the dog) told me last week that they were getting air conditioning installed but the earliest they could get was the end of July. They must be dying. The ex-mayor who lives two doors down is always bragging about how they don't have/need air conditioning - 'we have fans, it's fine'. Wonder what she's thinking today...

I only did 15 mins on the treadmill this morning. And I may not even make up the missing 10. Fuck it.

I'm going to take a shower and pour a tall glass of iced tea and sit.

Biggie played with Stickie a little but then decided to rest.

I am truly sorry you folks are going through this heat wave, and at record-setting temperatures, no less.

Here, we're told, our summer daytime temperatures average 82°F, but I'm here to tell you that's poppycock. On the easier side, though, it could be a lot worse than it is, even when we have a string of 90°F-plus days.

I don't know how people deal with that kind of heat with no A/C. Iced tea sounds like a great idea.

Bah. Somehow I went to school in Louisiana (think WET heat) without air conditioning for 12 years. It blows my mind.

Here, the range is a highest high of 91 to a lowest high of 84 this week. We consider this to be "a break in the weather."

It's hell down here.

I have air conditioning and use fans as well. Moving air seems to be so much cooler.

Our high today, Wednesday, June 30th, is expected to be 97. Tomorrow we will get relief when the high is expected to be 85. (Are you kidding me? Relief?). Friday and Saturday are both expected to be in the mid-seventies, thank heaven.

I suspect extreme weather to be a major conversational topic for the rest of my life (and beyond) on this sizzling sphere.
