* All of a sudden this morning, Biggie hates pill pockets. Great.

* A short series of links took me to this fairly short video that explained to me this venn diagram which as a clearly stupid American contains a lot of info I was previously clueless about. I've been using the wrong terms and identifiers for years. Sorry to all of you who drive on the wrong side of the road.

* At Friday night's baseball game, the video guy found this kid, maybe 10/11, who was doing a wild rally dance in the stand. A cute, awkward kid who was clearly having the time of his life. Even though the Mariners had been losing the whole game. And then the bases were loaded and he went into overdrive. And then we hit a home run. And our pitcher, on twitter, dubbed the kid "Rally Kid" and he went viral. After the game, the players and manager got his attention and called him down and gave him a bunch of stuff. The Mariners then invited him to last night's game and gave his family of four Diamond Club seats. They all clearly were having the best time last night. The Mariners presented the kid with his own Mariners jersey that had Rally Kid on the back. It was just so classy and so much fun to watch.

* And it was bucket hat night. And these hats are way higher quality than their usual swag. I took a selfy.

* I am fascinated by how old I am. My skin is very wrinkly (thank god for being fat or it would be Shar Pei worthy). I am getting better at getting to a standing position from my stadium seat. But last night, I was coming back into the stand from getting a drink and I paused because there was a batter batting and it's only polite but one of the ushers (who was clearly in her 50's) looked at me and said "do you need hep?" I'm find with the oldness. I'm just fascinated by it. I wonder how my grandmother and mother felt when they got into their 70's.

* My brother's plane is more than an hour late. He's in Chicago at a bar watching tennis. He was supposed to land here in Seattle at 1:05. BUT my old brain, had read that as 1:50. So I'd have been right here waiting to go to the airport when he landed. So, thanks, Southwest, for the save.

* I have tried and tried to make cheap bluetooth earbuds work for me. Unsuccessfully. Google finally made some that are $100. So I bought them. They have a lot of very amazing features. But, they cut in and out on phone calls - not helpful and when listening to stuff. Plus, while they stay in my ears securely, they hurt like hell after about 10 mins. They go back to Google tomorrow and the hunt resumes.

* The crowds at the ballgames have been increasing and last night it was pretty nearly pre pandemic average night size. Also, on the street from here to there, there and home, I saw maybe 5 people with masks on. And 3 of those were kids. But, most kids were not wearing them.

* So far, no birds inside today but it's not yet 10 and he's out there on the hunt so I have my breadbag ready.

* Oh! [livejournal.com profile] bill_schubert is on the plane in Chicago set to take off in 15 mins! Yeah! Probably time for me to get showered and dressed and ready.

I wasn't entirely sure what Great Britain represented until I was schooled by an Irish workmate (I was around 30 years old at the time). But I'm not that fussed about geography :-)

Let me know how you get on with earbuds. I’m seeking a good pair for listening to audiobooks on my commutes in and out of Oxford

Don't sweat not knowing the various UK groupings. Very very many Brits have no clue either.

Hahaha @ that diagram. It may be technically correct, but to a lot of the English, it's more like "ENGLAND" in a big St George's Cross flag in the middle and the rest in tiny letters round the outside marked "Crown Dependencies?!?". To the non-English countries, it's [Our Identity], [Other Oppressed Countries] and England, who are off to the side in a small box labelled "Special Diplomatic Category: Fuck Off You Imperialist Wankers."

I knew most of the British-Isles-related stuff in that diagram, although I didn't
know that those islands were called "Crown Dependencies" (and I wonder about the other Channel Islands – Alderney, Sark, are there others? – maybe they're considered too be part of Guernsey or Jersey administratively). I don't think I could have named all the Commonwealth countries on a bet.

I paused because there was a batter batting and it's only polite

I do this too, but distressingly few fans seem to understand this (or they just don't care). I wonder how we can educate them (without antagonizing them).

Actually, I now remember that my first time at Safeco, when I was on my way back from a restroom visit I encountered an usher holding a sign saying something like "Please what until the end of the at-bat before returning to your seat". I heartily approve, and wish Fenway had such a policy (although how much effect it would have on most Sox fans it hard to say).

Back when I used to be able to go to the movies I sometimes was automatically given senior discount even though I'm under 60 and I liked that.

I watched a video with JP Crawford and Shed Long meeting him. It was so sweet. They were asking him to teach them some dance moves.

Have you tried Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus? I have a friend who went through a similar trial and error process and he found that these were the only ones that stayed in his ears and didn't hurt.

I have never found earbuds that work for me. I have enough trouble with the ones that have ear-loops. I have a set of wired ear"buds" that are actually earplugs -- they stay in pretty well but get uncomfortable. Over-the-ear headphones do work, so that's what I use when I'm at home.
