Last night's game was fun. We lost but it was still fun. I was tucked between and astonishingly well behaved 5 year old and an almost as well behaved 25 year old. The former was there with a girlfriend he was trying to impress but it was his first time in the Diamond Club and he was just overwhelmed with thrill.

Also, girlfriend had her cheeks pierced which I'd never seen before. She had small plastic/lucite studs giving her dimples. The dimples looked pretty cute. The studs, not so much.

About the 6th inning the 5 year old was bouncing and screaming. He wasn't bouncing on me and he was only screaming when the jumbotron told him to make noise so it was fine. But, the 25 year old had bouncing knee that was really driving me a little crazy. An usher tapped me on the shoulder and asked me if I'd prefer to move to the seat behind me - on the aisle with no one near. She said she was sorry she didn't think to ask sooner. It was a nice respite and I really appreciated her noticing.

The Mariners and Houston made a weird trade earlier in the day. We gave them one outstanding pitcher and another ok one. As we were playing Houston, the players just walked across the field into their new teams. They gave us a mediocre pitcher and a ho hum infielder. It kind of put a pall on the game. Until late in the game, our manager put the new to us, ho hum infielder in the lineup and he hit a 2 run homer against the team he played for yesterday. Everyone felt a little better.

My new kitchen run finally arrived. I forgot to take a picture of the old one but you can see it here under my brother's feet (as he cooks breakfast - isn't he the best brother???)

I bought it because it was cheap and it served in all its ugly for many years. But today it's on the way to the dumpster. Meet the replacement.

Way better to look at. I keep carpet in there for the comfort of my feet but also because it's much easier to vacuum than that pale tile is to clean.

Nothing on tap today. It's going to be hot out so I will be in. Biggie does not appear to be as dedicated to birdicide as yesterday so maybe we'll have a carcass free morning. Here's hoping.

Great job by that usher offering you a respite from the neighbors crowding you in. Nice that they have a little flexibility to make such offers when there's room.

I have a lot more tolerance for kids being kids (i.e. making kid noises) than my brother does, and it sounds like this one was being pretty well behaved. Nice to see that. And, I'm with you on being flummoxed by some of the ways people pierce themselves. I try to remind myself that they're not doing it to make themselves attractive to me. And I remember that earrings on guys were once really rare, almost scandalous. Maybe in another decade, pierced dimples will be totally normal.

I have a small rug (well, bigger than a bathmat, but smaller than, say, a living room rug) in my kitchen but it keeps getting bunched up by the poor Roomba! I'm not even sure where it came from, but I'm glad to think that it's making cooking easier on my feet.

What kind of birds is Biggie catching? Is it one kind in particular or several different breeds?

Not very smart any of them I'd say.

I like both your rugs.
I saw a guy with the skin at the corner of his eyes pierced once. I'm usually pretty open minded about piercings but I thought that was a bit much.

I love both your rugs. I had a cork floor put in my kitchen as it's easy both on the feet and on things I drop.

Oh I get it. My kitchen floor is covered in mats. There's no way I'd work on just a floor. Even at work. If there aren't mats, I go raid the recycling bin and stand on a folded box.

The guys on PTI were all WTF about the Mariners trade. It looked like a salary cap deal, similar to our hockey team trading a world class goalie to Chicago for a bag of popcorn. They were especially miffed that Seattle will play those guys a lot more times.
