Overkill

Biggie and I both have plenty of food in house to get us through the next heat wave. I made various stops along the way this morning and remembered pretty much everything and didn't even spend too much.

Then home to the yarn project. I got carried away. And I do love spreadsheets.

So all the yarn is now organized and inventoried. The hallway is too narrow to get a great shot but you get the idea.



But here's where I went overboard...



That's the name and style number of each color along with the Hex Code and the number of skeins I currently have or have on order. All tidy. Online and in my little notebook.

I am at peace with my yarn stash.

It gives me warm fuzzy nerd vibes to see RGB hex codes applied to something tangible like wool! Wonderful.

My question is what is the ordering you chose? It's not alphabetical by color name, or by the four-digit manufacturer (Pantone?) code, or RGB... Is it arranged by how they are physically arranged in your hallway?

Looking at that picture it does seem to be vaguely "ROYGBIV", but it jumps around between dark and light in ways that are disconcerting to me. Also, what's up with blue turning to green turning to blue again?

I think i would probably try for a ROYGBIV, but perhaps i'd separate out dark colors, like brown should go with black/white/grey and not red. Or maybe doing it in a color wheel would be better, with the darker colors in the middle and brighter ones on the outside.

Oh I like the color wheel idea. I struggle with color combinations anyway. Mainly I copy what others have done that please my eye.

My question is the shelving. Did you have someone build it for you, or did your unit come with it? I love it

The hallway was originally a really long wall broken up with four soffits that stuck out about 6". I had the shelves built in between the soffits. They have been very useful. They span from the kitchen down the hall to the sewing room so they area a pantry at one end, yarn in the middle and fabric on the other end.
