I'm piddling away time this morning but that's really the big bene of retirement. I don't have a lot on the calendar. I'm not going anywhere today. I might do laundry. There's a baseball game tonight. And there will be cookies. But, all in good time.

It's hot/cold. The air outside is cool but inside is still warm from yesterday. The sun is out and that's complicating matters. They promised us a cloudy morning and lied. They are promising rain tomorrow and Sunday. I'm not holding my breath.

I finished ClickBait (Netflix) last night and then proceeded to dream about it. It was really one of the most excellent things I've seen in awhile. All the actors were new to me except one and I looked them all up to see what else they were in and turns out, not a whole lot. Interesting.

I woke up a couple of times last night with a hurt finger. This is the second time that has happened and I don't even remember if it was the same finger or even the same hand! For the record, last night was the middle finger on my left hand. It feels a little stiff this morning but not hurty. Weird.

I made new cookie dough yesterday and today I'm going to roll it out and bake it. I was going to make this next batch thinner but after more extensive taste testing, I think I prefer the thick ones. The good news about baking for me is a very simple feedback loop and decision making process!

Plus I need to do more storage testing.

I also think I'm going to try some piping today. I'm not too concerned about how they look for me, but what if I wanted to give some away? And piping is a skill I should have anyway. Just in case.

Cookie tidbit of the day: I make my cookie dough, and then roll it out between two layers of plastic wrap or wax paper. Then throw it in the fridge overnight on a cookie sheet or cutting board. That way when it's time to cut out the dough, it's already flat and ready to use. No dusting flour needed.

Ain't it grand to have the luxury of slow start mornings AND all the time in the world to do exactly what you want? Retirement is so awesome!

Good luck with the baking experiments. I totally enjoy the saga.

My dad retired at 62 and lived to be 75. There wasn't a day of his retirement that he didn't have something fun to do or learn — play a musical instrument, take apart his brand new reel to reel tape recorders (I got my geek gene from him!), bowl or golf and he even learned algebra sitting with me at my homework. I am doing my best to have just as much fun being retired. 🙂

When I worked at Netflix, they had the Red Envelope production company which gave seed money and technical help for unknown directors to cast unknown actors to do first time scripts. Once in a while they would find a big name actor to play a part. The one I remember most was called The Bituminous Coal Queens of Pennsylvania. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bituminous_Coal_Queens_of_Pennsylvania
