I started typing this entry and stopped and cut off all my fingernails. They had grown long and luxurious and were driving me nuts. Not to mention that I cut myself twice just crocheting! Now I will spend all day finding and sanding down burrs. But worth it. Anyone want some DNA??

The Mariners keep not losing. I am now seriously concerned that I might not get a full refund for my postseason tickets. They have four more games and the law of averages plus all of the baseball pundits say there's not a chance in hell they won't get shot down (enough negatives in there?) but even if they do, this has been fun and will be for four more games.

I do not understand medical professionals refusing to get the COVID vaccine. That just baffles me. To be honest, except for an excess of stupidity, I don't understand anyone's refusing to get it.

My second shot was 8 months ago and it was Moderna so it will be a while yet until I can get number 3 but you betcha the very minute it's a possible, my arm will find a needle asap.

Today I have no particular plans. I might go to Grocery Outlet. I might just stay here and safe. I might make some cookies. I might just eat the ones in the fridge.

One reason for the grocery trip is tortillas. It's time to switch up the breakfasts and I'm thinking maybe a round of breakfast tortillas.

Also it might well be the time to switch closets. I have all my long sleeved shirts in one closet and short sleeved in the more convenient closet. Today might be the day that we switch.

I will absolutely watch TV - there is now a glut of stuff that I'm interested in seeing. The only appointment TV is baseball so I can watch the rest at my leisure. But there really is a lot stacked up in my personal queue.

The medical people refusing it baffles me too. I have a niece who is about to graduate from nursing school as an RN and she won't get the vaccine. Her school was requiring them all to get it so she got her Dad, who is a pastor, to somehow help her get a religious exemption. It pisses me off. I know it's her choice, but considering she works in assisted living facilities I have a hard time with it.

The whole religious exemption has been getting to me. The argument is that because the vaccines were developed using aborted fetuses that if you're pro-life getting the vaccine is like supporting abortion. My argument against that without getting into the the pro-life/choice debate is that the fetus was used to help humanity rather than just being discarded. One could say that it didn't die in vain. I seriously doubt that the women who had the abortions that provided the fetuses did it specifically to aid in medical research, it was just an after effect of something that was going to happen anyway. Why not, as a pro-lifer, honor the "death" by benefiting from its contribution to save lives.

You make an excellent point, I agree with you. As you said, it's not like anyone is getting an abortion just for the research, so if they can be used to help, why not use them?

I'm stuck with a very stupid doctor, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she was refusing the vaccine.

I found out my cousin who’s a physical therapist is an antivaxxer. I mean, come on. He was in the neighborhood as hundreds of people died in his hospital, and now I find out that he’s telling people that the vaccines are for mind control.

The two sports experts on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption think the Mariner's last win over Oakland was the most important game this week, and are rooting for them to make the playoffs.

I note that the Mariners have not been mathematically eliminated from winning the AL West.

So here's a nightmare scenario (now that the other nightmare, a 5-way tie for the wildcard, is off the table): Mariners sweep the Angels, A's sweep the Astros, and meanwhile there's a combination of wins and losses among the three AL East contenders that leaves all five teams with 92 wins. Obviously, Houston and Seattle play for the division, but how do they sort the rest of it out?

I once imagined a scenario where Seattle has its big earthquake and it affected the economy so bad that we no longer could support a baseball team, and the Mariners disappeared without ever even making it to the World Series.

I don't understand people's refusal to get the vaccine either. The whole antivaxxer movement blows my mind, for any vaccine.

I know when I was in school, 30+ years ago, there was a girl in my class who was Christian Scientist, and she was made to get all required vaccines if she wanted to attend the school. There was no religious exemption, except at the Christian Scientist school in town. Apparently that is not the case now. :P
