Endings and beginnings

The first days after baseball are always so weird. I spend 7+ months watching baseball for 3+/- hours a day. And now, nothing. I forget how weird it is every year.

But this year, I have a new sit. And that's weird, too. I've never had leather furniture before. I don't hate it. At all. It's amazingly warm to sit in - I thought it would be cold. This chair has issues to get used to. There's seam right where my elbow is and when I crochet or knit, it rubs. I need to figure out a fix or get used to it. The power footrest is heaven. There is enough room for me to sit cross legged but not enough to make it comfortable for very long.

It's raining out but not hard so the birds are still out there. Biggie's sitting out there next to the wall watching them and getting rained on. That dude is committed.

Tomorrow is house cleaner day so also errand day for me. I got nothing on my list that can't wait until tomorrow.

I may well just play in my new chair all damn day long. Because I can. There was a rumor about Google's announcing their new phones today but clearly, that's not happening. Looks like now it will be in two weeks. Maybe that means there won't be that big gap between announce and getting it into my hands.

The chair (actually a bit more like a throne) looks nice in the room. You clearly need a scepter, though.

it's a gynormous couch for one. i was thinking crown but scepter works.

I did watch ... the score. I'm happy you won BUT I'm thrilled that you kicked the Yankees to the curb

For extra delectation, just in front of us in the security line were a small group of guys in Yankees gear, who noted (on seeing us behind them with our Red Sox caps) that they were in "enemy territory", and when we agreed one of them said "I'm sorry, but the Yankees are going to kick your ass". Well. I'm just sorry that we didn't see them again after the game so I could say "Well, somebody's ass got kicked, anyway".

You know, now that I think about it, my personal beef isn't so much with the players or team — I don't love them but... 95% of my Yankee animosity really is caused by Yankee fans. I hope their tongues get sores from licking their wounds. Yuck!

To be fair, I've heard people say similar things about Red Sox fans, and I have to concede that they have a point. (I'm not particularly fond of the "Yankees suck!" chants that tend to occur during all Red Sox games, whether the Yankees are involved or not.)

Reminds me of a postgame conversation after Cornell Hockey shut out Princeton 5-0 on the road. Several of us who traveled a lot for games were walking away from the rink in our pretty identifiable Cornell garb, and a couple of Princeton fans near us muttered "Cornell got lucky."

Two of us, in perfect unison, shouted back "FIVE TIMES!"
