Biggie has never once sat in my lap until today. I took him down to the litter box but he wasn't interested. So when we got back to the living room, I put him in my lap as I sat down in the recliner and we watched Bob Hearts Abishola.

Then the groceries arrived and I put him gently on the ground and got up. It took him less than a minute to not only scramble into my chair but on top of my crochet! And I'll bet he wants my lap back, too.

But I'm going to eat first. I'm waiting for the chicken to perk back up in the air fryer.

And it just dawned on me that he scrambled up onto the hassock to get into the chair. So I rolled another hassock into the bedroom next to the bed. I think we'll sleep there tonight so I can put the sewing room back together again.

I'm not unhappy about having a lap cat but it could interfere with my yarn projects...

I think this is bringing home to him how important you are to him.

Aw, Biggie. He needs his mum. I can't imagine how traumatizing that fall was for him. And for you.

Stupid birds.

I took a couple days off of reading FB and came back to this. Wow. Glad he's recovering but how terrifying.
Bet he enjoys the stint as a lap cat.

I haven't been on LJ since before Biggie's accident, but have now read the saga up to this post. And what a saga it is! I am so amazed and glad at how well he's recovering. Cats are definitely small but tough, at least as compared to, say, horses which have to be coddled.

I live in an 8th story apartment and have worried about the possibility of Smoke going out if I open a window too wide. My windows open vertically, so I keep the opening down to two or three inches. I understand that if a cat can get his head through an opening, the rest of his body will follow...and Smoke is not a pudgy cat. I also read that cats can survive a fall that's more than three stories by extending all four paws so that their extra skin acts like a parachute. No way I want to test that theory! FanSee
