Breakfast Under Bed

Biggie got himself under the bed and stayed there all night. He's getting more agile. This morning I took him his breakfast but, instead of setting it down under his mouth, I placed it so he'd have to move to get to it. And move he did. Pretty quickly!

I sent a note to the vet about his refusal to come out of the dark. Current guessing his his medication or just his healing but if there's something I need to know or do, I figured I'd ask.

Today I am leaving him on his own for a bit. I have errands to run and I'm going to run 'em.

Also I need to change the sheets on the bed. It is full of kitty litter.

The second best fried chicken place here (with, of course, Popeye's being first) has always borderline annoyed me. They are a local chain and when you go to pick up your food they are kind of mean. BUT their fried okra is the very best and you can fridge or freeze it for later delight. Their chicken is pretty good. Their delivery situation is very good. So they are in my rotation. BUT, yesterday I read that they have dolled out $50,000 in grants to other black owned restaurants in the area. I mean, come on. Giving out money is great but giving out money to your competition? That's just cool. So be mean, I'm ok with it now.

Popeye's is not close. It's in a far flung almost burb called White Center. Monday, when I was talking to the vet, she asked if I could possibly bring Biggie to the White Center office for his next bandage change since that's where she'll be that day. I said yes instantly and she was surprised. So I explained... Popeyes!! Turns out she's from Alabama originally and LOVES working in the White Center office because POPEYES!! We be cool.

Whoa! I just saw that I'm getting a big old fat raise! Social Security is getting a one time boost because whothefuckknows and I'm going to get $150 a month more next year. Much funner news than william shatner going into space. I'm over that and hearing about going where no man has gone before. But I am not now nor have I ever been a star trek fan. I am a bank account fan - particularly my bank account.

I think I'll go get in the shower. My errand destinations don't open til 10 and it's just after 8 but won't kill me to get ready. And maybe Biggie will come out for some ear rubs.

I read that too, regarding the Social Security pay raise. Much more significant than the usual 2% raise.

Your cat continues to amaze me! What a trooper.

After some consideration, I think our pay raise is probably performance based since it's so substantial.

Our cat did something very similar to Biggie. He was walking around the edge of our third floor balcony, when a motorcycle reeved its engine startling our cat. He fell three floors. Luckily there is a garden and decorative brush where he landed. He didn't have a scratch. I didn't realize how lucky our cat was till reading about Biggies unfun adventure.
Please don't believe he will learn from this mistake as I caught our cat doing his balancing act on the rail of the balcony again. So he became truly an indoor cat. Glad Biggie is on the mend. He reminds me of that old show called the bionic man.

oh I am sure as soon as his casts are off and he sees a bird he will absolutely not remember. am working on the indoor cat situation, or at least restrained outdoor cat.

Yeah! I heard on the news this morning about the 5.something% cost of living raise for social security. About time!

Popeyes is also a motivator for me. When I had a Lyft ride up to the big Syracuse mall, I tried to go to their Popeyes for some takeout before I drove back to Ithaca, but couldn't find it. A security guard said he didn't know if they had not reopened after their fryer was down. Huh. Wouldn't a major fast food franchise just buy a new fryer if they had to?!

Amazing to hear about that local shop giving out $50K to other local eateries! For sure the businesses that have long done a lot of takeout and delivery were the ones who were best positioned to survive and thrive over the last year and a half.

I haven't heard about this raise in social security $$. If they sent me a letter I haven't gotten it.
The most popular Black owned business near where I live is a veggie restaurant. I'm all for Black owned restaurants in general but these guys charge $18 for a veggie burger which I think is too much.

If I lived on the 4th floor, I'd keep my cat off the balcony. Just sayin'.
Had not heard about a SS raise. Tried to check https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.do but they are closed for the night. That's a big WTF.
I am impressed that a 90-year-old is still having adventures. The Star Trek connection is just icing on the cake for me. However, that flight was just a rocket-propelled balloon trip, I'd have liked it better if he did the orbital one.

Disparaging William Shatner - for shame! As a Canadian by birth, he has gone from being a joke for abandoning Shakespeare in favour of Star Trek, ro being cool, if goofy. I didn’t mind the coverage, mostly because I don’t watch TV and get most of my news from internet news sites so I had the option not to click on the articles. That brought the hyperbole down to manageable levels.

I quite liked Shatner going to space, but mostly because I happened across the article where someone had great fun with the headline. "To Oldly Go: ..."
