Biggie and I are both grateful that we didn't have to go to the vet for his pain shot yesterday. He actually seems to be doing fine sans meds. He just finished breakfast and was over here at my chair looking like he was going to hop in when a chirp chirp got his attention.

Now he's just sitting there giving them all the stink eye. I have not seen him test out the screen door yet. He's just watching... very... closely.
We had massive winds yesterday. This area of the country is prone to wind storms like I've never seen anywhere. Sometimes they have rain. Yesterday's was pretty dry.
I remember my first one really clearly. It was January 20, 1993. The day of Clinton's first inauguration. I was working for IBM about a mile from here. My deskmate lived further out and she got a call from her husband saying that their picnic table had blown away and he was finally able to find it two blocks down the road in someone's front yard. Walking home from work that day was the most difficult and the easiest, as the winds shifted along my route. The traffic lights were horizontal so the people in cars could not see them. It was frickin amazing.
MyTivo VCRs (
meowmensteen, good catch) had been set to capture all of the inaugural day events and got none since the cable went out early and stayed out until the next day. Hillary's gown was a color that was described as blue by half the media and purple by the rest. It drove me nuts not being able to see it.
Yesterday's wind was close to that except here in downtown, we lost no lights or cable. There were some scary reports of power polls falling on cars in the outlying neighborhoods. A fair number of leaves on The Tree That I Hate are now on the ground. We have another wind storm coming this weekend. I'm hoping to see more leaves gone then.
Biggie has moved his operations to a more stealth position. I like his choice of camouflage background.

I got the Moderna vaccine. My second shot was way back in February! So I have been waiting waiting waiting for a Moderna booster. Got it! And just now I found that Walgreens has it and appoints to get it online. I'm set now for Tuesday at 10:30 am. I carefully filled out all the info and answered all the questions and I have no doubt there will be a fuckup somewhere but hey, it's a start.
Now I'm going to go shower. I have not done anything to get sweaty in the past forever but I really do stink.

Date: 2021-10-22 04:36 pm (UTC)I have several memories of wind storms messing up our Thanksgiving plans. One year the power went out and my grandma Eileen had the turkey in the oven and half the fixings cooking. She just put up her hands and grandpa took us all out to a buffet up north somewhere.

Date: 2021-10-22 05:24 pm (UTC)I didn't realize you get wind storms that bad there.
VCRs! I remember my parents renting a VCR from the local video store, it was a big deal. I know it was a Beta machine but I don't remember what we watched. My Dad got us a VCR for Christmas that year (VHS), we were all excited. I haven't thought about that in years, too fun.

Date: 2021-10-23 02:54 pm (UTC)I got my (Pfizer) booster at a local CVS yesterday, and there were no fuckups of any kind. In and out in five minutes. Although they had told me to bring my vaccination card, ID, and insurance card(s), the only one they actually looked at was the vaccination card. Also, unlike my two shots last spring (which were at a hospital-run popup clinic, not a drugstore), they didn't make me wait around for 15 minutes to see if I had an adverse reaction. (Of course I didn't; my arm has been somewhat sore since yesterday evening, but that's to be expected.)
