Back on September 30, I sent a rather large payment (via BillPay) to the wrong credit card. It was all on Capital One. I started with the bank side, bill pay, and got exactly nowhere but it took a week to get there. Then I went to the credit card side and they were much more responsive and helpful. Paper check 2 weeks. Two weeks went by and no check so I called back. Again, very responsive and nice and reasonable. I should have the paper check long before Nov 10 but definitely by then.

So cut to last night, October 22. I got an email saying the correct amount had been returned to my bank account. WTF? I logged in and, sure enough, there it was. Drama over. Whew. The whole thing was a test - using Bill Pay vs using credit card payment system. That's a giant negative on Bill Pay fer sure.

I got a new comforter this week and Biggie's reaction to it is that as soon as all the lights go out, he crawls under it and settles in at my feet. The very first cat I ever had used to do this. Of course she didn't have two hard casts on. Neither Biggie or I can sleep in the same position for more than an hour or two and this new arrangement makes swapping positions a little precarious. He bangs my legs with his casts and then stretches out across the bed so my feet have nowhere to be. Finally he gave up about 4 am and went to his closet.

Today's job is Goodwill. Their donation station has been closed for a month while they reorganize it. And my donation pile has grown beyond my hamper's ability to contain it. So I'm going to bag it all up and take it over today. I don't really need anything BUT I do need steps so I will probably go inside and just walk the store.

Costco finally updated their website to reflect the Moderna booster. But they aren't getting an actual supply until November. I made a backup appointment on November 3 in case the Walgreens deal on Tuesday falls through.

I do not care about post season baseball since the Mariners aren't in it but the one thing I really did want was for the Astros to be eliminated - the earlier the better. The Astros are now playing in the World Series. I'd love to see them lose but my track record is pretty pathetic. I think now I'm rooting for them to get caught cheating again.

Oh I just remembered that it's time for Trader Joe's Garlic Eggplant spread again. Better plan a trip there sometime soon.

I'm with you on the Astros. Thought the Sox had the juice to make it. So sorry for Matt and his mom. As Fran used to say "It's not the loss, it's the hope that hurts." Another sad day in beantown.

In retrospect, the real surprise is that the Sox got as far as they did. I am, of course, bitterly disappointed, but the cold fact is that they were playing above their ability, until they weren't.

For obvious reasons, I also wanted the Astros not to make it to the World Series. Once they had done so, I was hoping their opponent would be the Dodgers, because I felt like I could actually root for them to beat the Astros.

Braves-Astros? Meh. I'll root for the Braves, I guess, but without much in the way of enthusiasm.
