Cake

I made a cake and it's a good one but I made it in the wrong pan. I thought the pan was too big and, turns out, I was right. But I still got six good slices out of it. I made CoolWhip icing and added some whipped cream cheese that I had in the fridge. I'm not sure I'll do the cream cheese again but I don't mind it.

And I am getting way better at cake making without making a mess.

I decided since Biggie is looking for his toys, maybe it was time to bring out a couple. I started with the Cat Dancer which he batted about with both front paws like nothing was wrong with either one. But he lost interest. Then we lasered a bit but that didn't last long either. I think he may have Cat Attention Deficit Disorder.

He walking on his bum foot now more than he's not. I'm beginning to think we might not get to go see the vet on Monday.

I've read (audibly) every single Jack Reacher novel. A couple of days ago, I bought and started number 26 and I didn't last two hours. The author (and now he and his son) have given up finding new plots. The reader is a rather famous one - Scott Brick - who sometimes is ok but with Reacher books, every single fucking sentence is read like it is the entire book's climax. It's exhausting. I quit. Sorry Jack. You've been a good read but I'm done. Fortunately, it was an audible purchase so I just returned it and got my credit back.

Meanwhile I found a new (to me series) featuring an almost thriller book unicorn... a black, female police detective! By Rachel Howzell Hall - Land of Shadows. I'm only an hour in but so far, it's engaging.

Thanks for the warning...I haven't bought the book yet and was hesitating since I already didn't like the last one written with the son.
Let us know how that new series is, please!

In other words, he's probably a cat.

Scott Brick seems very polarising. I know several people who simply refuse to listen to a book he narrates. Which is understandable but a shame if that's the only version available.

Whereas some readers actually make the book. Tasha will listen to anything Lorelei King reads.

Yay, hope you enjoy it! Her other fave is Adjua Andoh, although AFAIK the only mysteries she reads might be the Mma Ramotswe ones.
