I think we can mark today as the day that Biggie really fully recovered from his flying leap of a month ago. This morning I have not seen him use only 3 feet once and his limp is barely noticeable. He hopped down off the bed and then, while I was on the treadmill, hopped on top of one of the shelves and started knocking stuff off.

When I got my coffee and sat down, he came over and begged for a treat. (This is what we used to do before. Coffee and nail clip, then treat.) Lucky for him, I could not find the nail clippers but I did find the treats.

It looks like he's walking himself right out of another visit to the vet. It still could happen but chances are getting slimmer.

I tried some of the latest cake last night and it's very very good. It looks like a train wreck but it tastes delicious. [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist who first taught me to tweak box mixes added a new clue. And I tried it with this one and yum.

The box mix calls for water, egg, oil and mix. I used milk instead of water, egg, and melted butter instead of oil + a tablespoon of oil. I actually only made half so everything is divided by 2. Worked out great.

As did the icing. 1 8 oz container of cool whip. 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar, one box of vanilla pudding, 3/4's cup cold milk. Add milk to the sugar and pudding powder. Let stand for about 5 mins. Then fold in cool whip. I also added about 5 oz of cream cheese.

Success!

I may go back to Costco today. They had some ham ends that I just keep thinking about so why not. Steps and ham. Good combo. Even on a Saturday.

Then I'm going to finish the last episode of Years and Years (HBO - Thank you so much [livejournal.com profile] gracegiver, for pointing me to it). I am obsessed with this series now. I have exactly the same amount of wanting to know what happens and afraid to know what happens.

And, according to the chart, it's laundry day! Plus, I need to sort out the electrical situation next to this chair. It's a mess and needs to be organized and moved to where I can at least reach it.

So those are my plans. I woke up too early. Again. So it's still hours away from Costco opening. Maybe I'll get going on that laundry.

Biggie's recovery is just amazing! You must be so relieved. What a cat!!

All your baking is making me so hungry! This is unfair after a full breakfast, too.

i use a trick like that with cake mixes, too! i double the eggs, use milk vs. water, and butter vs. oil. everyone always raves, so it's worth the extra calories. =D that frosting recipe sounds WONDERFUL...does it really spread like frosting, though? and i'm so happy for you and biggie! <3

Years and Years is brilliant, but brutal. I was an emotional wreck at the end of it. All those memories of living through those times came flooding back.

I can't tell you how many times I have thought, 'This would be so much better with some chunks of ham in it." Ham ends sound perfect.

I did some grocery shopping today (Aldi) and they had big honey hams, spiral cut tiny hams, ham slices and some hams that are sliced. What I really wanted was a ham steak and nary a one was to be found. I'll check for it next time. I think that a lot lately, with all of the shortages. It is so wrong to call it a shortage in the land of excess though isn't it? Saying there is a ham shortage when I have a half dozen ham options is so very first world problem!

Pudding mix as frosting base is brilliant! And so is Biggie!
