SHAME ON YOU!!!

Today I decided to really tackle the half bath. It's so tiny that it's very hard to clean but I got all the nooks and crannies.

Then I lifted the seat. WTF???? The bottom of the seat is missing paint! Like it's worn off. It looks disgusting. And there are yellow stains in the top of the bowl where the water comes down.

But that seat. OMG. Why in the hell didn't one of you mention it???? An anonymous note would have worked. Shame me, mock me, but tell me when I need to replace the fucking toilet seat!

Hilariously, I happened to have a spare on hand. Really. I got it years ago and it missed being culled over and over again. And today, it was pressed into service. And thanks to pumice stone I have for my feet and never use and WD-40, the stains are now gone.

Also the former house cleaner is on point for this and the dust in the corners.

But, seriously guys, next time help me out here!

That would require us to turn on the light.

I don't know whether I'm impressed, or not. In nearly thirty years, one toilet seat served admirably and still had all its paint (yes, I checked or at least saw the underside once a week for its cleaning.)
How could the paint get worn away??? Don't tell me. Gross gross gross.

Glad you had a back up and am encouraging you to get the new back up a.s.a.p..

It is rather hilarious that you would have a spare on hand.

I agree with the other comment.... WD-40??? I have super hard water and stains that I am convinced that nothing will remove. Should I spray them with wd-40?

I think the guys I know wouldn't even notice, much less mention it *laugh*
BTW, you turned me on to "Shaw's Pads", years ago, they really did work for toilet rings, etc.

Haha. I had something like that in my bathroom. I climbed up on the toilet to get something off one of the shelves behind the toilet, when I noticed a layer of black mildew on everything in that shelf. Of course I freaked out and pulled everything off the shelf, tossed most of the stuff, and bleached the shelf. Jere saw me freaking out and made some comment wondering why it took me so long to do that. "I figured it didn't bother you that much?" Turns out, because he's tall, he could see that mess every time he stood up at the toilet, and didn't realized that I couldn't see it. Of course I got on his case about seeing that mess and just leaving it for me to clean. He couldn't figure out what the big deal with. BLACK MILDEW!! Men.

Ever get from him the very considerate "reason," "...because you like [cleaning up grossness so much that he'd never deprive you of the satisfaction?]"

I get that when he wants me to sit with him on the couch and rub his feet. He says I should "take a rest and sit with him because I work so hard... and since you're sitting here, why not tickle my feet?"

Not in the least surprised.

To be fair, though, we ladies also have our...habits. Maneuvers. Er...charms; feminine wiles....

I'm aware that this is a way first-world and all-around privileged problem, but I've had the same experience now that I'm doing my own cleaning during the Delta outbreak (and probably beyond). There's a helluva lot of cleaning in my house I thought my cleaners were doing but it turns out that that was not the case.

I've gone back to plastic toilet seats because of the paint coming off deal.

That is amazing that you had a spare, good on you. We desperately need a new seat, well actually a whole new toilet in our half bath. The seat is wood painted white and yes the white paint is wearing off.

One of our toilet seats is plastic so no paint to wear off. The other is made of some kind of composite fake wood and is white, but so far no signs of the white wearing off.

Re cleaners, I have to say the space under our bed is a lot cleaner now that I'm doing the vacuuming.
