I've had Geico insurance for my car since forever. Like everything, the price has edged up and up. But today it jumped so high, I said buhbye and it was an interesting experience...

It's a 6 month policy. Last time I paid $228. This time they wanted $314.

So I plugged in and got quotes. And yoouza did I wake up the ants in the anthill. I was maybe 5 minutes into the process when my phone rang the first time. Texts, emails. They like me. They want me!!

Progressive came back with a quote of $211 which suited me fine. I've got an old car and I'm an old woman with great credit and zero accidents or tickets. $211 seems fine to me.

I signed up and paid up and then googled how to divorce Geico. The only way is to call. I figured I could just not pay them but that didn't seem nice. So I called. Google says there is a 5 minute wait but, I figured and was right, when you tell the bot you want to cancel, they hook you up immediately.

I got a nice lady who tried hard but I shut her down. "If you wanted to keep my business, you would not have slapped a more than 30% jump in my rate." To her credit, she recognized a losing deal and finished me off.

And Progressive connected my home insurance and told me in Washington, I do not need a paper insurance card. Digital is fine. Thank you!

I'll miss you little lizard.

When you put it that way, there's not really much she can say. Good thing she knew when she was beaten.

I'm debating ... My State Farm Auto premium just went up to $423 per 6 months. When I asked my friend at my local agency, she said more and more people are driving uninsured, so SF upped its rates. I have every discount available to me. I am reluctant to switch after 52 years with the company; but, I find your actions today intriguing.
