Stapled up

The onesie for Biggie showed up. But, when I took off his star t-shirt, I saw that the incision had changed and not for the better. So... into the Biggie Baggie and off to the vet.

Happily we were there, done and back within an hour. That's some kind of vet miracle. And it was a very good call. The tech said that it was only beginning to separate and could have come right apart.

She said they retied the last two stitches remaining and stapled the rest. I have not looked yet because he's kind of been through enough fiddling with this morning. They gave him an antibiotic just be safe and told me, if I could, press a warm compress for about 10 mins against his tummy 3 times a day.

They want to see him again on Monday to check and then Thursday to remove everything.

We got home and he ate lunch and had a pill and then I warmed up some rice in a sock and he sat still for the crompress for 10 minutes! He's busy investigating things now.



Hopefully he'll settle down for a nap soon.

How is that onesie arranged around his back legs? How does it work? (Does it work?) My two need something to help them stay a little warmer in this old, drafty house and making a "jacket" or "sweater" won't be a problem, but ideally I'd like not to have to watch them constantly so as to remove the sweater for potty-going. Not medical, just cats who're partial to cozy-warm but who hate being "trapped" under or inside blankets. (Thanks!)

Adorable pic. I still have an infant onesie that Amber wore when she had her big benign tumor removed. She didn't like wearing it, but better than undoing stitches!

I looked up the Amazon ad. That's a lot of lettuce! My infant onesie cost about a buck at a thrift store. (I am cheap. Can you tell?)

Biggie I was only joking about getting a zipper installed you cannot just open this. I am glad the vet was able to quickly get him in, get him sorted and get him back in your arms! He looks very charming in his pajamas. Here's to everything remaining okay and everything going apace next week to get the staples removed.

I'm not at all surprised that Biggie sat still for the warm compress. Since you keep your place so cool, he loves a warm spot, evidenced by his burrowing under the covers next to his hot mama at night. :D
