I moved the heating pad over to the other recliner before I went to the grocery store this morning. And, sure enough, my lap is now historic and no longer valid. I can just move the pad over to my lap so no big deal.

I did get errands done. I found some wonderful stuff in the salad bar - It was labeled Thai beef and it was just delicious. I was smart enough to get a lot. Enough for lunch and dinner. $6. Yum!

I spent the afternoon trying to get my phone to ring. The number not-answer problems I hit last weekend have continued. So I tried a few dozen more things and then gathered all the data and went to both the Google Voice forums and Reddit.

Finally a guy on Reddit asked a question that led me to the answer and now I'm 97% fixed which is good enough for me. At least now when people call my main number, the phone rings. If I don't answer it goes to voice mail. Finalfuckingly. In fact, it was exactly this time last week when I was sitting here waiting for the call from Biggie's surgeon who had called 3 hours earlier and I didn't know it. I waited another hour and a half before finally calling him to find out. Rather not do it that way again.

My twitter feed seems to be full of people with 2 shots and a booster who got COVID over Thanksgiving. The latest is a guy who also had had it last spring in addition to the vaccinations and booster. HOLY FUCK. I am so grateful for our masks in Seattle. I have to go to the vet twice next week but I think beside that I may even rethink my store walking. Maybe.

If a heated pad is the key, they make these heated cat beds that only activate/heat when the cat is inside (weight tripped). So he could have a heated bed whenever he wanted and you wouldn't have to turn the suckers on/off for him.

Well, a kitty does have to have standards. ;)

No surprise about the heating pad, I've long recognised that I'm merely a heated cushion on my cats' favourite chair. A function I am of course honoured to fulfill.

Plus one for the heated cat pad here. We got ours from Amazon and the cat took five minutes to check it out and plop down on it and basically used it all winter. We have the one from K & H Manufacturing, but there may be others. They come in cat size and dog size.

It doesn't get hot, but it warms up when the pet sits/sleeps on it. We don't feel too bad about having the house at a cooler temp as the cat can stay warm. That is, when a lap is not available, of course.

in the last week, my Bonnie cat has stopped sleeping with me. Or else she comes in long after I am asleep. It's been warm this week - well, warmER - and perhaps too warm for her on the bed. I admit that I miss her.

I saw one article that the author believes everyone will get omnicron. The unvaxed will end up in the hospital and dead. The vaxxed will just get a mild case or asymptomatic. Jan 2022 will be a ride.

That's a thought. Good use of Christmas money. I think resisting is still the way to go.

Two plus a booster and COVID? That is kind of disturbing. I hope they have mild symptoms, at least.
