susandennisI am home from my appointment with the lung nurse practitioner. I like her so much. She takes so much time and care explaining shit. I'm good for another year. No swimming solution but I thought that was a long shot. Also no lung test which is wonderful. I hate those damn things and it's been a long time since I had one. I was pretty sure she was going to recommend but she said let's wait until things get worse. Fine by me!!
Then I got home and called Humana to enroll in the COPD Inhaler Assistance Program. It's a pain to get into BUT it means that instead of paying $150 every 3 months for my inhaler, I will pay $0. AND in a couple of months, I'll get a $100 Walmart gift card. I mean, such a deal, right?? I have to have one, maybe two telephone interviews with the pharmacist. But, that's the only requirement. I'm signed up and the first batch of inhalers is in the mail!
But wait, there's more!!! I've been bitching about not being able to hear the TV since forever. I got new speakers a few years ago that made it better but not even close to best. Sometimes the voices are just muddy. Sometimes the background music is so loud the voices are totally drowned out (I'm looking at you FBI franchise). I have to have CC on always or I'd never know what was being said.
Over the span of about a month, I kept hearing people I trust tout the ZVOX AV157 with Active Voice. It's a sound bar. I've tried sound bars before with zero success. But this one sounded different so I ordered one. From Amazon so that I could return it when it didn't work. It came yesterday afternoon.
Ain't no one getting this mother back. I can FREAKIN' HEAR the TV. The difference was immediate and dramatic. At one point I was fucking with the remote and hit the wrong button and it was back to the old sound and I went into panic mode. But, this thing has lots of different modes of clarity. And I got clear voices right back.
It's really a miracle.
But, now I have three remotes. Ugh. The ZVOX website was not very clear about how to consolidate remotes or which ones do consolidate. Google was even less clear. Finally, last night, I sent an email to the ZVOX help asking how I could get either the TiVo remote or the Roku remote to work with the sound bar. This morning I had an email back with complete instructions and now the Roku (my first choice) remote controls the soundbar.
Seriously, I am so jazzed about this. Best $200 I ever spent.
The Black Lives Matter folks in the apartment across the street have swapped out their BLM flag for a traditional gay rainbow one. And they took down their Christmas tree.
The dryer vent inspector is coming this morning. Always a fun time. And then I'll be gleefully listening to my TV!

Date: 2022-01-06 03:33 pm (UTC)The most shocking thing is the Netflix N. On a normal TV, every show starts with a big read N and a 2 not drum beat that rattles your spine. With the new sound bar thingy, you get dialog you can hear and that damn drum beat is relegated to a whisper. It's wonderful.
