Way back in about April of 2020, I asked how will we know when this pandemic is over? What will the end look like? I still don't know but I do find myself glad that the holiday is over so we can get some numbers today and see if progress is up or down.

I feel like I don't want to leave this condo until things get better but, I'm also kind of getting to the end of my reserves. Mentally and coporally. They generally don't post the county numbers until the afternoon. So for the third day in a row, I don't know if I'm looking to break out this week or if I'm here for another couple.

Besides the usuals of Goodwill, Costco and Home Depot, the places I want to go most are now:

Trader Joe's
Pet Food Store
Teriyaki takeout

I do wonder if I really do want to go there or if it's just my feeling that I can't. Day to day. And today. I'm staying here.

I ordered my four test kits from the government today.

I had an interesting discussion with [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist yesterday about testing. If I were sick, the very last thing I would want to do is go get into the car and wait in a line for a COVID test. If I'm not sick, what good would a test be to me? I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going to be near anyone. My Fitbit monitors key indicators. And I can deep dive into any of those that turn up 'off'.

So, I'm not sure testing would be of value to me but I'll have 'em just in case.

I might make some piecrust cheese straws.

Biggie has been busy this morning. This is how his chair gets messy. He drags that blanket down and then puts his toys in. Some are just more comfortable in clutter.

Wathed: The Larkins (Acorn) - kind of delightful actually. I've only seen one episode so far but it was fun. Candice Renoir (Acorn) - French with subtitles. It looks like it would be good but the French is hard to follow so no thanks. FBI International (CBS).

Amen, sister. My feelings too.

THANK YOU for that link to free testing. I thought it wasn't until tomorrow. Of course, the one I was going to go to is https://www.covidtests.gov/, starting tomorrow.

Along this same vein of testing or not testing.... I have a friend and she and her husband tested positive. So then she went to great lengths to make hard to come by appointments for her three small kids to get a test. She said they are a little congested and fussy. I keep wondering.... why test them? They all have to be quarantined anyway and they don't feel like going out and waiting....and then getting a stick shoved up their little noses. Just assume positive and stay home with them. I guess there is something to people wanting to be tracked for statistical purposes, but other than that, I can't think of a reason for it, in their case.

Presumably the Fitbit would advise you if anything is off? (I've only got as far as using the Health and Google Fit app on my iPhone, and not used a wrist based tracker) I find it amazing that tech has got this advanced, could pre-empt a lot of medical emergencies.

Thank you for the link to order tests!

I think it's unfair to limit test orders to one per household though. Too bad if there are more people in your household than there are tests in the kits you are allowed to order.

I just ordered my four tests, too. I do go to places, being as careful as possible, but good to have the tests on hand just in case.

We have taken to wearing N-95s if we go inside anywhere and are no longer eating in restaurants, but are going to continue ballroom dancing since my mental health and my weight can't survive stopping that again.

I've gotten tested twice and both were drive-through so no interaction with anyone but the person taking the sample. The first was required before having a colonoscopy last year. The other was after a known exposure.

The Washington state website for free COVID tests went live today. www.sayyescovidtest.org

They will send you 5.

You don't wait until you cut yourself to buy bandaides.

I've ordered off both sites. Nine may be overkill, but if neighbors are in a pinch, I'll have them.
